I suppose it depends on what you're looking for whether this book will meet your expectations. The author has an endless ability to interpret anything in Matthew into man's need to fully and completely rely on God. While I'm not about to argue with her about her point, Matthew goes much deeper. I found her explanation of the beatitudes shallow, confusing, and at times contradictory and of course, interpreted ignoring the context of who Jesus was preaching to and instead substituting her lens of man's dependence on God. I may be wrong, but the beatitudes are subject to all sorts of abuses when taken out of context. Jesus was preaching to poor people, occupied by the Roman army, who could be called to serve on a moments notice, who couldn't resist or oppose without sever penalties. They were being dehumanized by both the Romans and their Jewish leaders and Jesus was proclaiming how much they were worth in God's eyes. Apparently the author thought this was a minor point since it only got a brief mention. In my opinion, there are better books out there on Matthew.

This is a good study with an interesting lesson about the chapter being study. Weak area is that there are very few questions and no other types of activities suggested to use while studying each chapter.

If you are having a Bible Study, this booklet is handy and somewhat informitive. There are better books that give you more details, if you research a little harder. Keep lookin.kj

Because a commentary is required for each review I will not rate any of them individually but am glad to say that I can always count on Amazon and am happy with my many purchases through it.
