The is a very well put together general commentary on the gospel of Matthew. It is exactly what it claims to be in that it gives commentary on the gospel in order to prepare people to preach on it or put together education forums on it. If you need to put together a sermon, you could certainly do worse than this book. If you're writing an academic paper or trying to do detailed exegesis, this is not the book for you.

I enjoy this series for preaching and teaching in the parish. It is great for helping connect the readings to the people in the pews. As mentioned by others, it isn't a commentary for strictly academic papers. It may be useful as one source, but you will need others for serious exegesis in an academic setting. I recommend it to any pastor or lay preacher looking for something to help better their homiletics. It's clear, useful, and easy to translate into sermon material. What more can you ask for?
