5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended., November 5, 2006
This review is from: Matthew And the Money Tree (Hardcover)
Written by Matthew Lynch and illustrated by Paul Loudon, Matthew And The Money Tree is a picturebook fable about an African-American boy who sets out in search of the legendary Money Tree. When he sees a drowning man, his compassion causes him to rescue the seemingly helpless victim; in return, the old man guides Matthew to the Money Tree and tells him to "Take as much as you need." Matthew realizes that he needs nothing - his father and family provide for him, and he lives a happy life. "The next time someone tells you that money doesn't grow on trees, remember Matthew, and know that even if it did, you don't need it to be happy." Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful story with a moral to it, October 11, 2006

It was very refreshing to read this little story to my two toddlers because it had a very touching moral on the value of a loving family. It touched on the importance of famillies passing down oral history and hinted on the proper perspective of money and material goods. I can imagine when my children are older to have more discussion that this will be a strong favorite in our household. The graphics are very eye-catching and held their attention for a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book with a Moral, August 15, 2009
This review is from: Matthew And the Money Tree (Hardcover)
Matthew and the Money Tree is a wonderful book to read. It has an underlying moral that will teach children the importance of kindness and family ties over money. I read it in summer camp to five and six-year-olds who just loved it. They then made their very own money trees and manipulated money .
