Recently having refractive surgery (Lasik), I needed sunglasses to deal with the glare of the sun, needed added UV protection and a lens that would give more contrast/clarity of vision. I was searching for a pair of sunglasses that would accomplish that goal when driving and casual wear.

I considered other brands of sunglasses that had polarized lenses such as Oakley, Costa del Mar, and Ray Ban. No other lens gave me the clarity and improved visual clarity that this set can achieve.

The Kahuna which means 'expert', lives up to its name. There are many features that set this pair of sunglasses apart from the competition:

A superthin glass lens
Polarized plus 2 lens that cut UV radiation, blue light and glare
Saltwater effective coatings on the lenses
Adjustable metal core temples
Spring hinges

The design, by the manufacturer is recommended for OBLONG ,ROUND ,OVAL face shapes. The lenses have a slight lateral coverage to cut out glare from the periphery of vision.

The polarized feature cuts through the intense glare of the sun and gives a higher degree of contrast than other sunglasses that I have tried. The styling is superb, as is the solid construction. The glasses are lightweight and comfortable. The fit is perfect.

The glasses come with a microfiber drawstring case and solid hard clamshell case.

The cost is high, but the features are truly functional and unmatched!

VERDICT:

I highly recommend this line of sunglasses. These are the best sunglasses I have ever worn.

Got the Maui Jim Kahuna sunglasses. Gunmetal frames with Neutral grey lens. This is my second pair of Maui Jim. Product arrived as advertised in 2 days from Sunglass Outlet with a nice price. Great job.

My earlier pair were the lightweight titanium frame sunglasses so I knew coming in that this pair would be a little heavier, but they are still a good weight. This pair is heavier duty due to the lenses being actual glass instead of plastic, which I wanted because I am pretty hard on sunglasses. Plastic lenses are easier to scratch. I will need to adjust the nose piece and the temples but these sunglasses will be able to do that.

If you have never had Maui Jim sunglasses, you don't know what your missing. Here in Texas we get lots of sun and these lenses will have you seeing everything with great colors and no squinting.

I am extremly happy with my purchase.

My father owns these sunglasses, and he's always loved the quality and clarity that these sunglasses deliver. Then one day, he thought he lost his pair of Maui Jim Kahunas and he just couldn't do without them. He bought another pair the next day. A month later, he found his older pair of Kahunas down under the seat of his truck. Since he had a spare pair, he let me wear them occasionally when we were out on the boat and riding on long trips. After having worn through several pairs of cheapo 20$ sunglasses from the grocery store I worked at during that time, I was looking for a long term upgrade as I was starting to "come of age" and become more responsible. I decided to purchase a pair of Kahunas after hearing my dad talking about their awesome warranty service.

The quality is unlike any other! The lens are scratch resistant and never fog, it offers fantastic UV protection (I can even see indoors with these on), and it cuts through almost all of the sun glare left on the water, so you can see fish under the surface. Besides doing what all good sunglasses should do, they practically enhance your vision! With these sunglasses, you can see how some clouds have a slight green tint to them while some others have a slight yellow or blue tint. You can also see the tinting marks on windows!

Oh and, they're stylish.
