In the early 1980s, a small company started selling sunglasses on the beautiful beaches of Maui, Hawaii. Not a bad idea, considering that sunshine is what made Hawaii famous. It wasn’t long before the company realized that none of the sunglasses on the market provided adequate protection against Hawaii’s severe glare and harmful ultraviolet rays. So they developed their own. Maui Jim grew from an original line of seven styles to their current 61 styles, making them the fastest growing polarized sunglass maker in the world.

What is there to say, these are some of the best glasses in the world today. I have several pair of volcanos and I use them on and around the ocean alot. The wrap around frame cuts side light to a minimum which cuts glare from the back of your glass lens. Like all glass lenses they are a little heavy, but the optics are clear and sharp. These are my first pair of Rose lenses and I like them a lot, barely noticeable rose tint when you look through them. What you notice is a nice pop to colors and brightness is attentuated without darkening. I also wear costas with the polarized 580 lenses and I like then equally and they are similary priced so just go with the frames you like.

In the past I have had warranty work with Maui Jim and their customer service is spot on. They have a price list for repairs, you send the glasses and a check and in a week you have a new pair of glasses at your door. Highly reccomended
