Understand that I wouldn't even have cared about this type of book if it had not have been for Mr. Kiyosaki.

With that said, I have to say this is an excellent book on many levels. It is divided into 6 parts. Part I: Upgrade your Wealth Operating Systems deals with changing beliefs. Better than average use of some NLP techniques to "reframe" your poor beliefs about money. It works from identifying the beliefs, weakening, removing and replacing with better beliefs. Again, this isn't an overnight process.

Part II: Dream Big! Imagine David Swartz's book Magic of Thinking Big in three chapters or less.

Part III: Mastermind Your way to millions! Great material on MM groups, better than alot of what I've seen in other books devoted completely to the subject (sorry about that Joe V.). Makes suggestions that I wish previous MM's I had been part of had utilized.

Part IV: Build to Level 3 wealth and enjoy a Maui Lifestyle. Okay, after awhile even I got tired of the phrase "Maui Millionaire." However, these chapters talk of how to get started (wherever you are) and move toward a Level 3. Level 3 goal: Converting large parts of net worth into secure income streams and solid, long-term investments. Lev. 2 goal? build assets and financial skills. Lev. 1 goal? Build solid base of financial and investment skills. Part III introduces some formulas for measuring your progress that I just L-O-V-E! They summarize it as a "Wealth Scorecard" which works wonderful for the MasterMind groups.

Part V: Tap into Maui Giving to Create a Legacy that Lives Beyond You! I particularly enjoyed the chapter on using leverage to sustain giving beyond my liftetime. It had great questions for evaluating Nonprofits/charities.

Part VI: The Final Inch. More about giving, which is summarized by "We're saying don't let saving stop you from giving." Shares a quick stretch your money belief exercise on giving.

Summary: If you are currently in a MM devoted to improving your business/financial life, then this book will offer several tools that will easily propel you toward something possibly better than you had previously dreamed of. *****

About a third of this book is a re-wording of T. Harv Eker's material in "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind". Harv calls your money program (the ideas and worldview we have about money that influence, affect, attract, or push money away in our lives) "wealth files"; In this book it's your "Wealth Operating System"- same idea. I'm not complaining where they add value to the ideas expressed by Eker, but he's never even credited or mentioned in the book; nor by the way is Robert Kiyosaki- the man who arguably gave Kennedy her 'big break' with the original "Loopholes of the Rich" book. But I digress-- another third of the book consists of testimonials from the retreat, and short stories inserted by the authors- often about stuff that happened on the Wealth Retreat itself. And the final third of the book is a mish mash of rehashed classic success literature points, metaphysical theorum poorly stated, mental meanderings, and musings that really do the main topic a disservice- and I dare say it amounts to the reason all too many people *** think *** (incorrectly) that mindset, spirituality, and metaphysical laws are mere "fluff" or "psycho-babble".

The importance of the subject matter- most of it being mindset required to get wealthy cannot be overstated, these two authors just didn't do much to add any new ideas to the field. The "Mastermind" concept used by the "Maui Millionaires" is not a new concept, either yet no credit is given to Napolean Hill of "Think and Grow Rich" who arguably was the one who mainstreamed the concept.

If you're a marketer, copywriter, direct sales business owner, seminar business owner, a coach or other industry, you'll immediately recognize the book as "long copy" for the mastermind itself. The book can be summed up as a not-so-subtle brochure for their $30,000 "Maui Mastermind" events which they tout as the number-one mastermind event in the world which "often sells out a year in advance", etc. etc.

It doesn't bother me per se because I probably spend that much each year on similar events, memberships, courses, and other educational and motivational stuff to keep me sharp- and it's always worth three to five times that amount or more. I respect and applaud the effort in fact- I just hope that they'll do what any good sales copy-writer would do periodically and re-write the thing well.

In short, it could have been done with excellence, the sales points much more clever and compelling, and frankly I expected better due to the big names and I just didn't get it.

The Maui Millionaires' attend a five and one-half day seminar, a self-proclaimed "world's most exclusive wealth retreat. Held on the Island of Maui, the attendees, who pony up $30,000 to attend, learn the authors' six secrets for building wealth.

1. Upgrade your wealth building strategy.
2. Dream big.
3. Surround yourself with other big dreamers.
4. Build wealth that provides the freedom to enjoy.
5. Create a legacy.
6. Seek the support, accountability and couch to ensure your dreams are achieved.

Not many people could or would dispute the authors' plan. But I would be lying if I did not say the book has no appeal for me. Instead of allowing the weight of their arguments motivate action, the authors bombard readers with commercial sales pitch after sales pitch for their $2,500 coaching sessions and their $30,000 retreat.

If you can ignore the commercials, the book offers some interesting points, intriguing exercises and illuminating case studies.

I could not and did not finish the book.

WOW! This book is life changing; it gives answers where I didn't know there were questions! In The Maui Millionaires Diane Kennedy and Peter Finkel share the secrets behind the world's most exclusive wealth retreat. Offering a step by step, how-to guide to attaining wealth they throw the doors wide open and offer themselves as the reader's personal guides to abundant living. I've read many books that get the reader "all dressed up" so to speak...but with nowhere to go. With the help of this innovative, one of a kind book one can shed decades of bad programming and develop forward thinking and purposeful actions that lead to great wealth. Believe it or not, in addition to all that the authors are offering a $2400 plus mentoring program free to readers. If you have any hang-ups about money in general and wealth in particular, this book is the vehicle through which you can change all that...and your entire life!

There are little to no real business ideas in the book. Too much time is spent on feel good about money, and rehashing the same tired ideas. Really this book reads like a knock off of Rich Dad Poor Dad and Tony Robbins. Although RDPD and Tony Robbins are much more inspirational and concise.
The author in one section talks about the different "hats" decision makers wear. I thought Mrs. Marsha from Romper Room was writing for a minute.

The "Millionaire Next Door" gives in my opinion a much more realistic portrayal of millionaires. Find a niche, live below your means, and work hard.

First a disclaimer; yes I've read the book, but I've also implemented in my life virtually all of the ideas discussed in this book and am one of the people mentioned in the book as a "Maui Millionaire" and will be attending my 4th Maui Mastermind this next week. I thus obviously have a bias, but can also tell you that the ideas presented have worked for me and others in a tremendous way for which I'm very grateful.

A passion of mine is helping others with their finances which I've done with 1000's for the last 15 years, but until after I attended my first Maui Mastermind event in 2003 I didn't realize how much more I had to learn (and continue to) although at that point I was very fortunate to already be a "millionaire" at 40 who had started with nothing. I continue to counsel people on their finances usually for free, although this week I taught 55 managers at a large retail store about financial intelligence. My brother has a training company and he asked the plant manager what they needed most ... and I was happily surprised that he requested we teach them about personal finances. The reason I mention this is I've talked to a lot of people about finances and personally have been with no money but starting to accumulate some via saving from work, and then through a lot of diligence (i.e. mindset suggested in "the Millionaire Next Door") and some good fortune with the stock market (stock options) was able to accumulate a fair amount. I now view things and act a lot differently due to the ideas presented in this book that I learned in Maui. The Maui Mastermind event has radically changed how I think. My financial goal used to be to have enough to comfortably live on and help others, but now I see with the right MINDSET, KNOWLEDGE, and RELATIONSHIPS I can (and am) continuing to grow my wealth way beyond what I need in order to SHARE it with others and make a even bigger impact on the world AND do it in way that I enjoy (i.e. a balanced life ... like taking most of this last summer off to spend time with my family).

* My personal opinion of this book is that by itself it's a "very good book". Notice I said by itself. One of things that I've been amazed at over the years is David & Diane's ability to not just teach the concepts (which you'll learn in the book), BUT to give you the very practical's on HOW to actually do it. One of the other reviews mentioned that some of this information has been mentioned elsewhere. I believe one of David & Diane's gifts is taking concepts and really helping people implement them into their lives. When you combine the book with DOING what's suggested and the wealth of information and tools on their web-site (www.MauiMillionaireBook.com) is when it can help radically change your life in my experience.

* The other thing I respect is that David & Diane don't just teach this information, I've seen them and many others LIVE these principles and can attest it's a great way to live. My wife and I have especially been moved to see how much they give to those in need and I've seen them give millions away to orphanages, shelters, and other great charities AND to personally donate a lot of their time and talent to others as well.

I could go on (and you can hear me talk for almost an hour on the web-site), but I'd just like to end with a big thanks to David & Diane who along with others have given me a new vision for how to better live my life.

Going through the Wealth Operating System (W.O.S) exercise allowed me to see the limiting beliefs I've had regarding wealth (and my life). Changing these beliefs is now allowing me to see everything differently - from personal communication to business opportunities and, has even played an influencial role in the relationships with my own children. I also started a mastermind group within 72 hours of reading the book and it is literally changing my life! My 19-year old son also read this book and it too has had such an amazing impact on him that he has completely re-thought not only his personal view of wealth but his career/educational path. Don't hesitate to purchase this book - it can change your life!

The Maui Millionaires is truly beyond great!!! I've read a lot of books that book sellers may consider in the same category as The Maui Millionaires; however, having read this book, I have to say that it is in a class of its own. Nothing I've ever read compares. The Maui Millionaires offers a detailed, step-by step guide (complete with action plans) to anyone who seeks to become a millionaire. The authors of this book are so serious about helping their readers become millionaires that they offer them an online, wealth building Mentorship Program included in the price of the book. This book is destined to change many lives!

Don't get me wrong, I really like Robert Allen's Multiple Streams of Income book, but this book will take you to another level. I have been studying and researching the world of success and wealth building every since I realized that I had acheived some level of success myself. After all the books I've read, I was shocked to read this new book and find so many new and insightful ideas. Even if you're read dozens of other books, this one is a must read for financial well-being.

Helping IT Professionals Succeed

I bought this book because I thought it would be mostly about how to help your business grow(I own an established business and was looking for a 'booster'). However, most of the book seems like it's a version of their real estate wealth building book.

The ideas are fine, and the examples sometimes interesting, but I'm not sure I would recommend it if you are looking to grow an existing business.
