5.0 out of 5 stars The guide for hiking Maui!
This easy to read book about hiking trails on the island of Maui, Hawaii, offers insight not found in a lot of Hawaiian hiking guides, many of which are outdated. If you plan to go it alone on Maui's many trails, or even if you plan to hire a guide (see Eco Maui @ supak.com), this book offers the kind of up-to-date information, easy to understand directions, and a wide...

1.0 out of 5 stars Way Out of Date
This book is far out of date. On one trail we met several people all trying to use it and all a good mile off the mark. We called the numbers in the book for direction (disconnected) on this trail and even called the town and were told that no one had asked about the trail in years. Try Maui Revealed: The Ultimate Guidebook (Maui Revealed) instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars So good, I just bought another of her books, March 4, 2005
I've been to Maui twice now packing this book. I highly recommended it. Synopsis at the beginning of each hike allows for easy planning and explicit details throughout the chapters ensure you don't miss a thing. She's also got an interestingly dry sense of humor that makes it fun to read. I just bought her "Kauai Trails" book for an upcoming vacation. I expect it will be just as good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maui Trails, January 4, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Maui Trails: Walks strolls and treks on the Valley Island (Maui Trails: Walks, Strolls, & Treks on the Valley Island) (Paperback)
This hiking guidebook was useful on a recent family trip to Maui. Chapters are organized by main areas of the island, making it easier to find an apropriate hike while driving in that location. A "Hiking Table" summarizes hikes by location, distance and difficulty level. Details about where to park, features of the trail and nearby facilities was also nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Guide, July 10, 2002

If you have never been to Maui, well you are missing out on Paradise. And if you do make it to Maui, bring this book. You should read Mitchners, "Hawaii" as well for a historical-fictional account of the islands. Also an amazing book. But this guide is a must have for touring the island.

Have Fun!
Aloha!
