5.0 out of 5 stars When it's a macadamia...brand name matters!
I bought the Mauna Loa Dry Roasted Macs with sea salt in Hawaii. They were so darn good, I wanted more, but they were very expensive in the supermarket. So, I ordered the 6-pack through Amazon.

2.0 out of 5 stars Much worse now
Mauna Loa used to be the only Macadamias I really liked--always nice and light colored, just the right texture and wonderful flavor.
NO MORE! For the past year or so, they have changed markedly. Now every can or bag full has darker colored, harder textured, less flavorful nuts. A big disappointment for 2009-10. What happened?? New management? Global warming...

5.0 out of 5 stars When it's a macadamia...brand name matters!, October 24, 2010

I bought the Mauna Loa Dry Roasted Macs with sea salt in Hawaii. They were so darn good, I wanted more, but they were very expensive in the supermarket. So, I ordered the 6-pack through Amazon.

Not sure why, but the estimated ship time was a few weeks off and I had a hankering for macs. So, I bought a cheaper brand at the supermarket. They were awful; absolutely no flavor. I tried again with a mid-priced brand -- same problem. These I returned to the market.

Then, I test-tasted one at Whole Foods. Awful.

I started to think that maybe I wasn't remembering it right. Maybe these Mauna Loa macs weren't all that good. Then, finally, they arrived. Oh, my goodness! This is what a mac is supposed to taste like! Fresh, flavorful, just the right amount of salt.

These are absolutely the best and, to date, I have not found a substitute. Store brand peanuts...sure. Store-brand -- or any other brand -- macadamia nut? Heck no!

I have been getting these on "subscription", at good price and
just wanted to let others know that they are "fresh" , not stale as they are in some stores. and now they come right to my door.
the "subscription" is good because with that you get free shipping .
once a month, or if you want have 2 for twice a month.
the stores in my area stopped carrying these so I tried this , and so far
it has been a good experience.

get original Mauna Loa macadamia nuts from Hawaii at the best deal I could find on the web. They're a better buy than directly from Mauna Loa!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great macadamias, if they are fresh - "best buy" dates would help!, December 25, 2006
What is it with these food companies that refuse to put easy-to-read "best by" or "use by" dates on their products? Mauna Loa has great products, but only if they are fresh. I got several Mauna Loa products for Xmas and none has anything but a complex, unreadable (to me) code stamp on it. C'mon, Mauna Loa, get with the program - please print an easy-to-read "Best By" date on every product!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best vailable macadamia nuts in the market, September 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mauna Loa Dry Roasted Macadamias With Sea Salt, 4.5-Ounce Cans (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
Macadamias are my favourite nuts. They are not easy to found. Costa Rica is producing macadamian nuts by the Britt Coffee Company and is sold in the USA and in many Duty Free Shops at airports. There are macadamian nuts from Australia too. They are, in general, nice and well presented. But the Mauna Loa Dry Roasted Macadamias with sea salt are the utmost. They are perfect. They should be used as a benchmark to assess quality.
Enjoy Mauna Loa Macadamias

I'll be happy to change this review whenever Mauna Loa can give me the Macadamias I loved for 30 years!

High quality nuts, but I've found a non-Amazon source of bulk nuts, so I probably won't get these again. However, these macs sure did get eaten.
