4.0 out of 5 stars A comprehensive look at the episodes of Maverick TV show., October 25, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Maverick: Legend of the West (Paperback)
This book is an excellent collection of descriptions of the episodes of the many incarnations of the Maverick TV show. It features each episode's "Pappyisms" in an easy to find format, and even lists unaired and unfilmed episodes of the later shows.

Though there are quite a few rememberances and inside details on the production of the original series, I would have liked to read more.

Overall, an excellent, and entertaining read, pardner.

This review is from: Maverick: Legend of the West (Paperback)
Though the classic original MAVERICK television series is inexplicably unavailable on DVD, the entire series is part of the Encore Western Channel's daily line-up on cable TV. Ed Robertson's book is an excellent companion to this great old show, filling in season-by-season as well as episode-by-episode details and background on the creation of a western classic. Includes extensive interview material with many of the cast, writers and directors who produced the series.

If you have fond memories of MAVERICK and/or are enjoying the series -- for the first time or all over again -- on Encore Westerns, then you're likely to enjoy this book a great deal.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great book but......., October 28, 2009
This review is from: Maverick: Legend of the West (Paperback)
This book is a GOLDMINE of information for the MAVERICK TV series.

It DOES appear to have errors though:

PAGE 166: episode 118 should be "Mr. Muldoon's partner
instead of "Epitaph for a gambler"

PAGE 166: episode 119 should be "Epitaph for a gambler"
instead of "Maverick report"

PAGE 167: episode 120 should be "Maverick report"
instead of "Marshal Maverick"

page 168: episode 121 should be "Marshal Maverick"
instead of "Troubled heir"

page 168: episode 122 should be "Troubled heir"
isntead of "Money machine"

page 169: episode 123 should be "Money machine"
instead of "Mr. Muldoon's partner"

If anyone disagrees with this, please feel free to set me straight. I am really surprised that the author or the editors didn't catch these errors before publication.

ALL other references (and there are many) to this series agree with the "should be's" that I have listed above. If the book is correct, then EVERYONE else is wrong. Having said all of this, though, I am still very happy to own this book. It is an fabulous reference for any fan of Maverick.
