Creating 1 quart of ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, or frozen drinks at home takes only about 30 minutes with this electric ice-cream maker, and salt and ice are not needed. It has two speeds for creating hard or soft variations of any confection. The machine's freezer bowl goes into a refrigerator's freezer for about 12 hours to freeze the liquid between its walls. The bowl then goes atop the power base, the unit's paddle goes into the bowl, the transparent top is locked in place, and the machine is turned on. Ingredients go into the bowl through an opening in the top as the paddle turns. Chocolate chips, chopped fruit, nuts, and other ingredients can be added toward the end. The bowl is nonstick for easy cleanup. The machine measures 8-1/2 inches in diameter and 11-1/4 inches high. It carries a 90-day warranty against defects. An instruction booklet containing many recipes is included. --Fred Brack

This machine exceeded my expectations! Turns out delicious soft serve in LESS than 30 minutes (on a hot day in Hawaii!). Easy to set up, quiet operation, nice collection of recipes to get you started. Very pleased with product and price.

It's a neat machine, that does the job pretty well. If you choose the hard setting plan on butting the finished product into your regular freezer to finish it up. Put a fun machine all the same and a great thing to do with the kids.

I had the chill bowl in the freezer for the recommended 12 hours.
After hour and a half of automatic mixing, I still had cold liquid cream mix, NOT icecream. There was no hint of solids. The motor smelled hot and the base was hot to the touch. Not happy customer.
