Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Depending on how one chooses to view it, this aptly named book is either a potpourri of strange and wonderful ideas or a collection of far-fetched suppositions. The text consists of interviews with 17 men and women, among them Timothy Leary, John Lilly, Allen Ginsberg, and Laura Huxley. These conversations cover such diverse topics as communication with dolphins, lucid dreaming, chaos theory, cybernetics, psychedelic consciousness, physics, and time travel. Although the book's question-and-answer format may not appeal to everyone, there will certainly be readers interested in this volume's unique subject matter. For large collections.

This review is from: Mavericks of the Mind: Conversations for the New Millennium (Paperback)
This book is a wonderful introduction to the thoughts and philosophies of some of today's most radical thinkers. The interview format works well, as it allows for spontaneous insights from the interviewees. The subjects range from poets to scientists to cultural commentators (ie Terence McKenna), and the authors do a notably good job of revealing some common themes between all of their philosophies. If you want to know where the world is heading, read this book!
