5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money
This 2 disc interactive learning software is better than any other "learn Microsoft Office" titles I've bought (yes, I bought many!).

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a very helpful tutorial
Since it was so affordable, I decided to give it a try since I wanted to be more advanced on a few of the office programs and learn a couple of others from scratch. If you're looking for an overall general guide through the different features of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, etc, then this is fine but if you're a beginner, or not at all familiar with certain programs...

This 2 disc interactive learning software is better than any other "learn Microsoft Office" titles I've bought (yes, I bought many!).

This is the most non-intimidating interactive learning software ever. You go step by step from the absolute beginning to the more advanced techniques. Main menu navigation allows you to skip what you may already know, enabling you to zero in on what you may want to work on at the moment.

You are not only shown what to know, but then must do it yourself. NOTE: you do Not need to have Microsoft Office installed on your computer. All the interactivity exists in the program.

Constant exercises, end of chapter reviews, and chapter quizzes make this a great way to learn Microsoft Office anytime and anywhere. I strongly recommend this to any serious learner.

I learned as much from this program as I did in an intensive Adult Ed course that cost 8 times as much as this program.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a good INTRODUCTION tutorial., December 18, 2007
This review is from: Mavis Beacon Teaches Microsoft Office (CD-ROM)
I teach 7th and 8th grade keyboarding and computer science. My students are using Mavis Beacon teaches Microsoft Office as an initial exposure exercise. They are able to read through the screens and perform basic operations as if they were in the program itself. It's not the same as the real thing, but at least they are gaining some familiarity with options that are available. When they get into the upper grades they will be aware of the tool they can use, which ones to use and have a beginning knowledge to start with. Because this is simply an introduction, I recommend having the users manual as well to look up certain questions as they come up during live use of the actual programs.

If you're looking for an overall general guide through the different features of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, etc, then this is fine but if you're a beginner, or not at all familiar with certain programs of Office, then this isn't helpful enough. Unfortunately, the ones that are really good cost a bit more.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mavis Beacon Teaches Microsoft Office (CD-ROM)
I bought this for my wife to learn the basics of Office software. She was disappointed that it didn't really allow her to work in the program, just follow along with instructions to do various projects in Word, Excel, etc. If you're looking for a self-directed tutorial, this isn't it. And good luck getting the $[...] rebate check. Three months after submitting my rebate paperwork, I'll still getting the runaround from Encore, the folks who handle the rebate program.
