So I can use my older pans, I bought this induction interface disk and it works great.
Linda B.
When using them, yes, there was a noticeable delay in heating food as the disk must first get hot and then transfer the heat to the cookware.
Michael Lawrence
This was purchased thinking it would allow me to enjoy my induction stove top with all my cookware.

We bought this to use our awesome Max Burton induction burner with some aluminum pans.

Put it on the burner, put an aluminum fry pan on top, with eggs in the pan, turned on the induction burner, and we waited...

Half a second later, there was a series of loud metallic pops. This kind of freaked us out, as you don't normally see that kind of behaviour in major appliances.

Upon immediately turning it off, we examined everything and noted rather large blisters in the thin metal sheeting on this disk. It no longer sat flat, and very little of the disk would make contact with the burner any more.

It lasted an incredible half of a second before breaking.

We contacted the company from which we bought it on Amazon (don't remember who it was - so consider this review to be of the item, not the seller), and heard nothing back.

Fifty bucks flushed down the toilet.

NOT recommended.

This item does everything the manufacturer claims. All cookware can now be used on an induction cook-top, the tri-ply disk distributes the heat evenly, and the silicone handle is comfortable to hold, remaining cool in use.

I have an aluminum pressure canner, a non-stick hard-anodized sauce pan reserved for milk-based sauces and custards, a glass vacuum coffee pot, and several other items of cookware made of non-magnetic materials which are not induction compatible. Were it not for these items, I would not have bought this interface - which effectively reduces the controllability, instant response, and efficiency to below that of a radiant cook-top.

Buy this item if you must retain cookware which is not induction compatible - it will work well with them.

BUT... it makes absolutely no sense to hobble an induction cook-top's capabilities after paying its premium cost.

AND... It is far more than twice the price I would expect to pay for this item when comparing it with the price of an economy set of tri-ply, induction compatible cookware (which can now be found for around $150).

Sooner or later a competitor will challenge this manufacturer's monopoly and prices will fall. Until then it merits a very reluctant overall score of 4 stars. Were it not for my "special" items of cookware, this would warrant 2 stars.

Had high hopes for this item and was looking forward to being able to use all our pans with our induction cooktops. I have 4 pans that work with the induction cooktops and another 50 or so that don't, so I had about 50 good reasons to want this to work.

Unfortunately, however, the cooktops and this interface do not play nicely. After about a minute, the cooktop shuts down from overheat. I tried turning it back on, but you have to wait until it cools down, which also means the food has cooled down, defeating the purpose entirely. I also tried only using it for low heat cooking. No luck there either, eventually that too caused the dreaded overheating code error to appear.

I pushed the edge of the return envelope, trying to find a way to make this thing useful, but as I was nearing the 30 day window, and I'd found no way to make this do anything other than look interesting on the pot rack, the interface disk had to be returned. Oh, well. Maybe someone will come up with something that works.

The is supposed to let you use your old non-induction cookware (aluminum or whatever) on an induction cooktop. Induction heats this metal disc, and the disc then passes its heat to your pan the old-fashioned way. It does do what it claims to do -- sorta.

Major problem: it gets really hot. To do its job, it has to. But that has two unfortunate consequences:

1. You've got this VERY hot thing on your otherwise-cool cooktop. Be careful!

2. If your induction cooktop has overheating protection, it detects that something is very hot AND TURNS ITSELF OFF.

Recommendation: Take what you would have spent on this and invest it in cookware that works with induction. Clue: older stainless steel usually does work with induction. So does newer steel marked "induction ready." But for certain relatively recent varieties of stainless steel, improvements in stain resistance had the unintended side effect of also resisting induction.

I was really looking forward to purchasing an induction disk so that i could continue to use my non-induction ready pans on my new Kenmore Elite slide in stove. First use, the stove's induction cooktop instantly recognized the disk's magnetic characteristics and kicked right in. A few seconds later the stove went into error mode and the stove completely shut down and would not respond while the disk remained on the burner. The error code would not clear while the disk was on the stove. Once I removed the disk and replaced it with a magnetic pan, the error code went away and the stove resumed to work like a charm. I repeated the process several times. Each time the disk sent the stove into a error mode. Previously and since, the stove works great with all other magnetic fry pans and pots. I don't know why I had a problem with this disk. Perhaps other stoves would not experience the same difficulties.
