5.0 out of 5 stars Superb scholarship: indispensible for Ernst studies October 29, 1998
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
Very well-written account of the psychoanalytic influences on Ernst's art. So persuasive, the book is not so much a theory as a definitive exercise in decoding Ernst's arcane symbolism, and has been received as such by the art historical community. One of perhaps a dozen truly interesting and literate books on modern art!
