This is a great book. My almost 5 year old son keeps asking for it over and over again. Unlike most "real science" books, it has both scientific explanations for things like gravity and the phases of the moon, but also tells a narrative fictional story. As a parent, it's very helpful to have all the answers right there on the same page when your child asks, what is gravity? We can't wait for the next Max book.

The illustrations are beautiful. They are very colorful and crisp.
The inter-weaving of the story of Max and Tori along with the science behind it is well worth the read for ANY age.
Boys and girls alike loved the story.

I recieved the book as a gift for my classroom. It is a treasured addition.

I had seen that this book series had won so many awards and decided to pick up the series for my son, who loves all things space. He enjoys reading these books and learning about each of the planets and what one would find if they visited them. I even learned things that I didn't know. As an old mom, I love it when I get to learn something new.

Fun book; my nephew reads this over and over and over. Max the dog in an entertaining character, and the illustrations are beautiful and colorful. I like that real science is incorporated into the material as well--so even parents can learn something!

Max Goes to the Moon was very informative and fun for my children. My 4 year old liked the pictures and the story. My 6 year old wanted to learn more about how to get to the moon, so the sidebars worked perfectly. Get this book for any kid who dreams of going to the moon.

I am a 4th grade teacher in Hawaii, and I had the honor of meeting Dr. Jeffrey Bennett (the author) and learning from him this past summer at Space Camp in Alabama. I purchased his Max series for my own two boys and several nieces and nephews, and I also got a set for our school library. The Max books, according to our school librarian, have been extremely popular with all of the children. They are one of the few books in our school library that have waiting lists! In fact, when I wanted to use "Max Goes to the Moon" with my students, I had to bring in my own children's copy (I had to promise them I'd bring them back "soon") since our school copies were being borrowed.
These books are a MUST for every classroom teacher (preschool through college!) who teaches anything about science, and a MUST for any child who is curious about space. Children and adults alike will fall in love with Max and learn so much from the book. I read "Max Goes to the Moon" to all three of my science classes when we were learning about gravity, the Moon, and Space. I read them the fictional story first, and then referred to the nonfiction text boxes for several weeks as we did various activities. So many of my students' initial questions about the Moon, Earth, and gravity were clearly and thoroughly answered with this book. The students referenced the book for their final oral presentations on gravity more than they did any other resource.
My only wish is that Dr. Bennett would write more of these types of interesting, informative books on every science topic I teach!

It is so hard to find a picture book for younger children that not only keeps their interest, but teaches science at the same time...Mr. Bennett has done a fabulous job doing both. The children love Max and all of his adventures!! A must have for every child interested in learning more about the the solar system!!

All the Max books are great for both children and adults! Whimsical and informative! You'll enjoy Max's adventures and learn a lot as well. Good reference book for research.

Wonderful!! One can read these books over and over and learn something new each time. They are loaded with science and are informative to all levels of budding scientists! I highly recommend them!

As an educator that strives to inspire children with a passion for math and science it is critical to equip myself with tools that enable me to do so. Max goes to the Moon is one such tool. It has a wonderful blend of storytelling and accurate science. It has plenty of additional space facts to inspire the adults that read the books with their children. I firmly believe that the author has carefully selected science facts to compliment the stories and this enables the reader to learn more about space than just Max's adventures. The book is well written, well-illustrated and a fabulous read!
