If I were to characterize this cd, I would say that it is definitely pumped, youthful but sophisticated, and thoroughly "feel-good" as well. If you are looking for an Andrea Boccelli, then this album is not for you. I am ashamed to admit this but I had not heard the name Max Pezzali before this year- apparently I have been living under a rock:) . In any case, I watched a New Year's Eve (this past Dec. 31, 2010) spectacular broadcast live from Rimini, Italy through the RAI channel which we have through our cable system. All I heard was the gaggle of constant screams and loud, thunderous applause from the youthful crowd who sang all the words to his song insinc with him! By the time I got to the t.v. to see who this italian phenomenon was, all I was able to see was the performer's face. The next day, I jumped online and googled the show. I saw his photo with the name Max Pezzali next to it. When I got to Amazon.com, which is the sole source of my italian music purchases, I saw a plethora of Max's work. I did recognize his former band's name- 883- which I had heard float around the italian pop scene in the late 90s. In fact, I had heard only good things about 883 at that time but did not know that Max was a part of it. Oh, the shame!! Anyway, I apologize again to everyone for this- all I can say is, "what was I thinking?" I blame it on being youthful myself back then. In any event, I unfortunately, at that time, never researched how to obtain a copy of 883's or Max's work. So, as you can imagine, I am so glad that Amazon.com now offers the majority, if not all, of his work. Again, Max is a wonderful performer and singer. If I had to pick a favorite track off of this "Live 2008" album, I'd say it would be "sei fantastica." Also, check out, "sei un mito." I never knew that this soccer classic would be "Max-ified," but he did it and it is simply great. I definitely recommend this cd as a starting point for all those who want to dip their toes into the world of Max. Also, if you get hooked like the rest of us, I do know that he is coming out with a new album, I believe on March 1, 2011- but don't quote me. It is called "Terraferma." He sang a song called "il mio secondo tempo" two days ago at the italian music festival- San Remo February 2011. Feel free to google it or catch it on youtube. The performance was excellent and took the audience by storm. If I was to compare that song to the songs on this live album you can see that Max has matured and only grown even more in sophistication. I would whole-heartedly recommend both albums- Max Live 2008 and the new one, Terraferma. And, if you want to grow your Max collection even more check out the 883 albums too on Amazon.com. Good luck and youthfully and gleefully chant away with this delicious performer- see for yourself why he is so beloved by all who have heard his music!! Go Max!
