About the Author

Alexander McCall Smith has written more than fifty books, including the bestselling No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series and the Sunday Philosophy Club series. He was born in what is now Zimbabwe and taught medical law at the University of Botswana and at Edinburgh University. He lives in Edinburgh.

Macky Pamintuan is an animator, graphic illustrator and fine artist. He has illustrated several chapter books and a picture book. He lives in Dinuba, California.

More About the Author

Macky Pamintuan was born and raised in Davao, Philippines. Early on, his parents discovered that giving him paper and pencil was a sure way to keep him busy, quiet and out of trouble.

He moved to San Francisco, California in 1998 and earned his BFA in illustration at the Academy of Art University in 2003.

His past clients have included HarperCollins publishers, Sterling Publishing, Simon & Schuster, Random House, Bloomsbury USA, Mcgraw-Hill, Scott Foresman, Soundprints & Peaceable Kingdom Press.

When not illustrating, Macky enjoys rooting for aging sports teams to keep things interesting. He currently lives in the Philippines with his wife, Aymone, their daughter, Alison, and their wily dog, Winter.
