Product Description

Max is a young boy, and like most boys he loves to draw. One day he gets a mysterious marker in the mail. There is no letter attached - only the plain orange marker. Max decides to test it right away, sits down and starts drawing. He draws a monster but as soon as he finishes the lines on the paper start moving and to Max's great surprise the monster runs off the paper and into another drawing. Max realizes that he has to stop the monster. So he draws himself on the same drawing that the monster is in and immediately finds himself inside the drawing. The game begins.

Excessive Lag March 1, 2012
By Zafi
Fun:
For a simple DS game, the lag is ridiculous. It's so frustrating. I played this on the PS3 and purchased it for the DS. The PS3 version has zero lag, however it is awkward drawing with the joystick, I much preferred the DS drawing.

Very Cool Game for anyone January 2, 2012
Fun:
My 8 year old son really likes this game a lot, which actually surprised me, because he hasn't enjoyed anything that is not based on a character he already knows and loves (sonic, mario, link from zelda) for a while now.

The concept is simple. Max has a magic orange marker and when he draws a monster with it the monster becomes real and runs away. Max decides to catch the monster and draws himself into the game.

In the game, the puzzles start out fairly easy - draw yourself a small step, then draw yourself a staircase, then draw something that you can jump on as it is floating over water - and then they get a bit more challenging.

None are insurmountable and most are pretty fun. My son likes to yell WHEEEEEE as Max bounces on some of them.

I think the one that is the coolest is the bridge on top of the moving tires that Max then has to jump on as it rides him to the other side.

My son is enjoying this game a lot, and I really like the music that goes with it. Very cute and upbeat music.

Fun:
While you might not guess by the title, Max & the Magic Marker is not just a game for children, as this game will appeal to a wide variety of people and different ages. Really, it is a fun game that is filled with puzzles that you can solve by, you guessed it, using the magical magic marker. The game was originally created and released for the Wii and the PC but with the DS using a stylus as it does, it seems like it was almost made for the DS.

What makes this game unique as compared to other puzzle games is that you are basically left to your own creativity at times as far as how you play. You start off as Max, a young boy with his magical marker who has drawn a dragon, from there your creativity can make this game different for everyone. As you make your way through the different levels you can collect different items, and most importantly ink as you never want your marker to run dry. Unlike other games, like Mario for example, if you are in a tricky position, you can pause the game and draw your way out of it which both my son and I found really cool. We really couldn't think of any other game that was just like this one.

For it's uniqueness and creativity alone this game would deserve 5 stars but on top of those things it has nice graphics and a good story. While this game may not appeal to those teen-agers that like fighting games, that is quite possibly the only niche that may not like this game. Younger children will like it as well as older people who will enjoy the creativity that it allows you to use to play the game.
