Product Description

Max Payne 3 tells the story of a retired police detective embroiled in a world of corruption, turmoil and intense violence. The award-winning Max Payne franchise put you in the role of Max Payne, a hard-boiled New York City detective with a penchant for violence, out to avenge the death of his family. The latest installment delivers more of the classic elements and hyper-intense action that fans have come to love, while moving the story of Max in a new direction. Since leaving the NYPD and New York itself behind, Max has drifted from bad to worse. Double-crossed and a long way from home, Max is now trapped in a city full of violence and bloodshed, using his weapons and instincts in a desperate search for the truth and a way out.

Max Payne 3 is the third release in the popular Third-Person Shooter series of the same name, and the first iteration of the series since 2003. Developed by Rockstar Games, the creative minds behind the cutting edge GTA, Red Dead and Midnight Club game franchises, Max Payne 3 features an older Max Payne with a new life and job abroad. But as dangerous situations spiral Max's life from bad, to worse, it seems that the more things change, the more they stay the same. Game features include: series first multiplayer functionality, a wealth of weapons, classic Max Payne Bullet Time and Shootdodge functionality, extreme realism and special bonus features.

In addition, the Max Payne 3: Special Edition contains a variety of exclusive items. See a complete list of these below.

The Return of Max Payne

For Max Payne, the tragedies that took his loved ones years ago are wounds that refuse to heal. No longer a cop, close to washed up and addicted to pain killers, Max takes a job in São Paulo, Brazil, protecting the family of wealthy real estate mogul Rodrigo Branco, in an effort to finally escape his troubled past. But as events spiral out of his control, Max Payne finds himself alone on the streets of an unfamiliar city, desperately searching for the truth and fighting for a way out.

Series First Multiplayer

In addition to an expansive single player campaign, Max Payne 3 is also the first entry in the series to introduce a thorough and engrossing multiplayer experience. In a unique twist, Max Payne 3 multiplayer delivers a compelling experience that dynamically alters maps and mode progression for all players in a match. Along with traditional multiplayer modes, Max Payne 3 also includes a deep reward and leveling system, persistent clans and multiple strategic load-out options.

5.0 out of 5 stars Max Payne 3 (a review) December 20, 2013
Platform for Display:PC|Edition:Special Edition
Rockstar knows sequels, and more importantly how to progress characters in their sequels. For Max Payne, there was only one way to take him, creating a grittier, older and more wrinkled version of Max, with all the usual, noir-ish characteristics intact. More violent, more scarred, that makes for a greater shooter experience these days, and one can’t help but think that Rockstar could be heading down a boring and familiar path yet again.

When you actually start playing through, you can see the work being put in, that they perhaps have earned their chops here, story and gameplay. There were earnest in the scenes and the style values that have gone into the game. They also used the flashback narratives as the way to progress the story in the present. It is certainly grander in scale, like Rockstar combined and amped up Max Payne 1 and 2 into one big, bad monster.

Max Payne 1 had the noir and Max Payne 2 had the darkness. Max Payne 3 makes those two look dirtier, more visceral. A Max Payne that has nothing to lose, and yet could lose the very same people he, with a loyal sense of heroism underneath, had to protect (and fail, of course, which is Rockstar’s signature slant). There was not a moment where you feel the story dragged on, and if a scene felt like filler the action in the gameplay that compensates most definitely did not feel mediocre. It is a close examination of modern shooter storytelling, told the Rockstar way, and in that alone the game already succeeds tremendously.

If anything, you can sense how they distilled the whole Max Payne bullet-time mechanics down to a science. You have the weapons and the upgrades, and now you also have the overused cover and fire movements, which you know is just required for you to survive.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool special edition, mediocre statue. March 12, 2013
Platform for Display:PC| Edition:Special Edition|Verified Purchase
for the most part, I really like this special edition. I have had many in the past, and this one is pretty good for the price. However, I am a little disappointed in the statue quality. It doesn't look like Max Payne. The face is poorly made to resemble him, and with such an important and vital game in the series, this statue should have been better looking. The price of the overall product says its not gonna look up to Sideshow Collectibles standards, but I guess the general rule is you get what you pay for.

Had no idea I was getting a huge a$$ statue with this!!! I just ordered the Special Edition because it was realatively cheap and I love the whole Max Payne Series!!! This purchase has inspired me to build a whole new PC Rig (I'm a Mac guy lately as my business is audio). I've also started to get back into gaming since buying this. A somewhat expensive, yet exhilaration
hobby!!! Came with a b!tchin' bullet keychain too!!! LOVE IT!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Something different June 6, 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I have to say I was very upset with the early parts of this game, it wouldnt run and I had to call cust support twice but after 2 hours I have to say it was worth it
First of the special edition is worth it comes with a nice model of max and a couple of other goodies like pictures in a case file ect.
I dont know why this game is getting bad reviews, I for one really enjoy it and it holds my attention unlike the barrage of fps games that have come out. Graphics are wonderful on pc and its what you should play it on if u have access to one good enough, xbox wont do it justice, you might as well play it in a microwave. This version is overpriced for what your getting though, $200plus is a little much and for that kind of buck youll probaly be upset at what you get
The bad things about this game are 1. it took a while to install and start up, the game is about 35gb, 4 discs which isnt a negative for the size it just has 4 discs to keep track of, the setting of the game is different and the it doesnt feel like a max payne 2 sequal, its a completely different beast. I hope you find this review to be helpful and if you decide you dont like this game then thats your opinion and your entitled to it.
