5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic game December 24, 2012

I can give to this game 5 stars, is not perfect but is a great game and i very happy playing it.

Essence of previous max payne is visible, more better than the film xdd

I need to try the multiplayer options but im sure the sigle player is the best of this game, anyways if this game would be more freedom, for running around the maps with more time, would be better.

I bough it cuz max payne 1 and 2 were a nice and fantastic games.

Sry for my english xd

1.0 out of 5 stars BEWARE THE NEGLECTFUL DEVELOPER!! November 23, 2013

I would give this game a better rating if I could even get onto the game.

After downloading the 30+ Gb of data, I ran into a bug that prevents me from logging onto Rockstar Game's Social Club, and, stupidly, it doesn't let you past the start screen if you're not logged in!

I'm not the only person to experience this. In fact, there are many, many complaints (spanning from the day of release to now) of players not being able to log in. If you get this game be aware that you may be one of them.

Fortunately for me, I only paid $6.00, so £4.50; for basically 30 gb of wasted hard drive, the realization that Rockstar are idiots who don't care for their community, and a headache. I pity anyone who is considering forking out the full price for this game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the Max we grew up with, but still a fine game. January 21, 2013

If there's one thing you can say about Rockstar, it's that their story telling craft keeps improving.

Max Payne 3 is a departure from the previous two games in that you're no longer the squinty protagonist trapped in a city of madness, drugs and conspiracy. Instead, you're in sunny Brazil working as a private body guard, getting away from the rainy NYC from previous games.

Max has a few flash backs to his former life and how he got down to the tropics and tangled up in a kidnapping plot, but the story is heavily based on the corruption unfolding in Sao Paulo.

Although Max goes through a minor mid-life crisis and ends up shaving his head, it just doesn't feel the same without the nightmare levels or the dark delusions of a alcohol saturated mind. With no police force to report to or people to really be held accountable to, it feels a bit "gringo vigilante" throughout most of the game.

The gameplay is reasonably solid, but the difficulty curve takes a steep drop once you get familiar with aiming directly for the face every time. Bullet time only makes things easier when you're getting the hang of dialing your sights in. I have to imagine it's much more difficult with a controller, but with keyboard and mouse, it's only a matter of time before every enemy is one or two shots to the head away from no longer being a problem.

Like any good Max Payne game, the ending is pretty brutal and Max is left not much better off than he started with the bad guys dead and another killing spree heavy on his conscious.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great game if you can get it to work November 25, 2013

For the hour I was able to play it, Max Payne 3 was great. I tried to play it the next day and was unable to because Rockstar social club made it unplayable (couldn't connect to the internet even though it let me log in and the Twitter feed stayed live.) I have searched out the and tried the different ways to get it working and after an hour and a half I gave up.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unfortunately unplayable December 20, 2013

Max Payne 3 has been the subject of some great digital sales lately, and seemingly for good reason: the PC port of this game is riddled with showstopper bugs with the engine and Rockstar's Social Club. After startup, the game would pause itself every minute or so, presenting such an immersion-destroying annoyance that it essentially made the game unplayable. After almost two years, there's been no official fix for this problem.

Rockstar should spend more time on QA for their games, and you shouldn't spend your money on this one.
