5.0 out of 5 stars Gentle Holiday Fun With Max and Ruby, December 7, 2005
This review is from: Max & Ruby - Max & Ruby's Christmas (DVD)
How do you make your way in the world--and even in your own house--when your big sister knows just the "right way" to do everything? Just ask Max, a 3-year old bunny with tons of a determination and a little bit of mischief, too! It doesn't matter that his big sister Ruby thinks she has a lot to teach him; Max has his *own* ideas!

Little ones can celebrate the holidays with their favorite bunny brother and sister with this Max and Ruby Christmas DVD. The DVD contains 6 Christmas/winter-themed episodes plus 6 bonus episodes (aired between 2002-2003) for a total of 102 minutes.

The episodes included are:

Max's Christmas - Max is full of questions when Ruby hurries to bed on Christmas Eve so that Santa Claus can come. No one ever stays up to see Santa--no one except Max!

Ruby's Snow Queen - Max wants to play with his new Christmas gift, a Screaming Green Aien Gorilla. However, Ruby wants him to help her build a beautiful Snow Queen. When Grandma comes over to admire the Snow Queen, they quickly find out where the missing Screaming Green Alien Gorilla has gone!

Max's Rocket Run - Ruby, Louise, and Max are going on a sledding adventure! Ruby tells Max that he can only go down the Bunny Hill, while she and Louise take their first daring ride down Rocket Run. But before they get up the nerve, Max takes his *own* ride down Rocket Run!

Ruby's Figure Eight - Ruby is determined to skate a figure eight. Max, who barely knows how to skate, is equally determined to play hockey with Roger and the big bunnies.

Ruby's Surprise Party - Ruby plans a surprise party for Louise and stations Max as a lookout. But Ruby ends up more surprised than Louise--and Max gets the cake he was craving.

Ruby's Tent - Ruby and Valerie try to put a tent together--despite interruptions from "Super Max".

Ruby's Tea Party. Ruby wants to have a tea party for her dollies, but Max wants to play pirate. When it looks like Ruby's lost the ruby necklace that she was going to wear for the tea party, only Pirate Max can help her out.

Max Is It - Ruby, Louise and Valerie want to play freeze tag. Max wants a slime dribbler. When Max is It, he freezes everyone... and he seizes the moment to get his slime dribbler.

Ruby's Science Project. Ruby and Louise are making a papier-mâché volcano for a Bunny Scout project. Max wants candy. Little do the girls know that Max has a totally different purpose for his Red Hot Marshmallow Squirters than they thought.

Ruby Writes a Story - Ruby needs absolute quiet while she tries to write a story. But Max wants to play cowboy. Eventually, Max helps Ruby come up with the perfect idea for her story.

Max's Dominoes - Ruby and Louise want to earn their hospitality badge by hosting a Bunny Scout meeting. Max and Morris are busy exploring the domino effect with a variety of toys--culminating in a terrific welcome for the Bunny Scouts!

Grandma's Attic - In Grandma's attic, Ruby is delighted to try on old clothes. Max, however, finds an old chest that--according to Grandma--no one ever goes into. When he finds the key, they all get a surprise!

My son enjoyes this DVD and as he does his other Max and Ruby DVD. The only thing that I find unusual about this series is that we never see any parents in the episodes as Max and Ruby are left to their own devices.

One things for certain: with the Max and Ruby series, you'll not encounter mean-spirited behavior, fast-paced action that makes your head spin, or rapid-fire dialogue that leaves you reeling. It's gentle, quiet, slow-paced fun--which is a great alternative to other kids shows out there.

My 3 1/2 year old loves, loves, loves Max and Ruby!! This is the first DVD we have been able to find (since the episodes now air at three a.m.!)The DVD is loaded with quite a few episodes-so she can get her Max and Ruby fix until the new DVD comes out in March...Such a sweet, wholesome show!Completely recommend.

This is 1 out of 3 Max & Ruby DVD's released thus far. This was the first, although I missed it last year, then there was Springtime, and most recently, Halloween. As usual with holiday themed children's DVD's, there is only one true episode about the holiday, with the rest barely having to do with the theme. That's ok though, as any episodes of Max & Ruby are perfect for kids, and there are 12 featured on here. My two love this show, and it's one that is perfect for boys or girls, as each has a main character to relate to. I also recommend getting some of the myriad of books to go along with the show.
