These are small picture books with a simple story. My daughter and I would go through each page and talk about what was happening in each picture and then review it when we were done. We had fun talking about Max. In the book "A Lesson for Max" he tries a cigarette. Naughty Max! I think that was the only "serious issue" book but easy to discuss. You will enjoy them all. (We have several of them.)
