first of all, i love this CD. i bought it the first day it was available and i don't regret it. all 7 of these guys are talented, amazing, superb, astounding... and a whole dictionary full of other adjectives that means "kicks your fanny into next week". in fact, i bought 4 more copies just so i can give them to friends and family as gifts. *deep breath* ok, here we go... 2 major disappointments with this CD - Mark "Love Man" Pender (ya gotta love the Love Man) only sings once on lead, and Richie "La Bamba" Rosenberg not at all. huh? wha...? now, i love Jimmy Vivino, and i adore all the CDs he's been on, but i was really hoping to hear La Bamba and Pender sing. imagine my disappointment to find Dr. John instead! if i wanted to listen to Dr. John, i would have bought one of his many CDs... i bought this one to hear the Max Weinberg 7. but still... from the start of the high-kickin' "Jumpted" to the deceptively simple-sweet piano work and harmonies on "The Last Minute", all of the numbers on this recording will make you hungry for more and wondering where they've been your whole life. and even though i listen to it every day, something will catch the corner of my ear and drop my jaw with how adroit, complex, and astoundingly talented these guys are. nobody, but _nobody_ can swing the blues like these boys can. now, go buy it. your ears will love you.

Swing to the Max!,

Yeah, it would have been cool to start this disc with "Conan's theme", but what can you do. This isn't actually my kind of music, but if you're into big band and swing, there's no denying that these guys are excellent musicians. Also a generous 17 tracks. So if you dig "Brian Setzer Orchestra" and that whole sound, you'll love this. Just too bad they didn't do a song with "Triumph".

I watch all the late night shows but nothing makes my day more than when I hear Max and his band on Conan.I can't think of any other band that does the kind of thing that they do that has inspired me to see if they have a cd or not. This is what I expected, fantastic jump blues making me smile from ear to ear at 2 am in the morning as I search the internet looking for the sound of musical joy.I survived the 90's and all that depression and Thank God for the Max Weinberg 7 and the happiness they make people feel when they play. It's just a shame they are not the special guests on Conans show so the home viewers can hear more of them.

Solid Music From A Solid Band,
By BookMania (Stafford, TX, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Max Weinberg 7 (Audio CD)
I'm a huge Conan O'Brien fan, and I think that The Max Weinberg 7 are a tremendous complement to the show, so I was extremely excited to get this CD when it first came out. These guys are good at what they do, and I love it when they take part in one of the skits on Conan's show, but this CD is the first time I've listened to their music without the spectacle of the show. This was my first exposure to The Max Weinberg 7 as pure musicians, and I have to admit that I was tremendously impressed. This is an excellent CD, especially if you're in your car on a long drive as I was when I listened to it. Their 1950s sound is sure to keep your toes tapping and your head bobbing. This album is an hour of pure entertainment. The only flaw I could find in this album was that all the songs sounded very similar to each other. While all the songs are pretty good, but the listener's enjoyment of the last track on the CD won't be as high as that of the first track, simply because it all sounds the same after a while. The bottom line is that those who watch Late Nite with Conan O'Brien or are familiar with Max Weinberg being the drummer for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band are sure to love this CD. Those who don't know the band are probably going to love it, too. I recommend this album.

"the perfect ingredient, pure entertainment",
This review is from: Max Weinberg 7 (Audio CD)
Talk about rock n' roll, the beat, they've got the beat and then some. Featuring an astounding group of musicians - Scott Healy (piano/B-3 organ), Michael Merritt (acoustic/electric bass), Mark Pender (trumpet/vocals), Richie La Bamba (trombone/vocals), Jerry Vivino (sax/clarient/vocals), Jimmy Vivino (guitar/vocals), and of course Max Weinberg (drums) they are professionals just having a ball, playing the music they love. The forty eight year old Weinberg from New Jersey, spent fifteen years actively touring with the Boss, Bruce Springsteen and the EStreet band as the seasoned drummer "The Mighty Max".Some highlights: "BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ", lead vocal by Jimmy Vivino and Jerry Vivino on sax, a real swinging gas..."HONEYDRIPPER", the whole gang is jamming as Weinberg goes nuts on the skins, Healy diggin' the B-3 organ, go-man-go, Merritt strung out on an awesome electric guitar..."THE LAST MINUTE", blues-rock tempo, gets under your skin and just lingers there, fantastic piano-style of Scott Healy. Can't say enough about this tremendously upbeat CD, you dig "Groove", then this is a must have...Weinberg 7, you've found the perfect ingredient for pure entertainment! Total Time: 49:21 on 17 Tracks...Hip-O Records-20018...(2000)

This CD is awsome! I just bought it and it has all these great tunes from the best band on television! The Max Weinberg on Late Night w/Conan O'Brien are a great band, and this long-awaited album proves it! This is the album every Conan fan should have.

Weinberg and crew presents a driving upbeat album that features a few very strong songs that keeps your head bobbing and foot tappinng such as "Jump Ted" and 'Rock This Joint.' However, the entire albumn is unfortunately not very imaginative. While the driving 4/4 rock beat sounds good for the first couple of songs, after 17 tracks of the same beat and sound it becomes somewhat monotinous.

I can't add anything to what's already been said, but now that several years have past since the release of this CD, I'm sure itching for a new release from the 7. They are very skilled musicians and this album showcases their work and ability in a way that Late Night can't. It's very catchy, keeps my foot tapping, and keeps me awake on those long road trips. A must have for any Conan fan, but VERY good in its own right.

This is a great CD - excellent and upbeat, lots of fun, party music. Everyone who hears it agrees. I recently saw the band live on Conan and they really rock! If you can't get to New York, this CD is the next best thing.

I love this music! Upbeat, fun, danceable, melodic-- boogie to the max!! The playing on this album is amazing! Max's drumming is sharp as always, Jimmy Vivino plays hot lead guitar as good as Brian Setzer ever could; and the MW7 horns are pumping and jumping. There's lots of great vocals, too --"Buzz, Buzz, Buzz" is one of my favorites, along with the new song, Catch Em In The Act, featuring the lacivious growl of Dr. John telling a juicy story of "Long-Legged Lena", Filthy Willamena" and "Sweet Sally". "The best band on TV" shows that they are all that and more. Great music from track 1 to 17.
