It's no secret that this gamepad does NOT really look anything like the controllers used for the old consoles, (NES, SNES, etc.)

That said - this is a GREAT, affordable game controller for the classics. This controller feels quite solid even though it is SUPER-light weight. The buttons (including the D-pad) are very responsive. The D-pad is the directional control pad on the controller by the way.

The only slight flaw to this controller can be EASILY overcome with some thought. See, this controller has NO designated start and select buttons. I simply assigned two of the trigger keys on the top of the controller to act as the start and select keys inside my emulator's settings. Works perfect for me!

In conclusion - this is NOT AT ALL for serious (modern) gamers. It does NOT have force feedback, dual shock, or any of those (worthless to me) features. But if you are looking for a comfortable, easy-to-use controller for your classic games and emulators, but don't want to pay big money for the modified authentic controllers out there - BUY AT LEAST A COUPLE OF THESE great little works of affordable tech.

By the way - I OWN legal copies of ALL of the games that I play using emulators. I just can't get the consoles to work any more after YEARS of extensive game play.

I use this controller for Windows XP which locates and installs the driver right away. There doesn't seem to be much need for calibrating it that I've noticed, but to get the most out of this controller I recommend a free program called "Xpadder" which will allow you to assign keyboard functions to the D-pad and the eight buttons. Xpadder can be downloaded from the Major Geeks web site at majorgeeks.com. If you use the Firefox web browser, you can find a plug in for that web site for your search bar using Mycroft Project. You'll be able to play games which normally use the keyboard much better.

plug this in, instantly recognised by windows, and start fifa 07 and you are instantly good to go. I played non stop for months and this controller never faltered once, players who are used to analog controllers on the xbox/playstation may miss them but trust me most games function excellently without them. The only game I couldn't use this on was devil may cry 3, the movement control was locked to an analog stick and it couldn't be adjusted. Performance at this price is incredible, me and my bro love sports games and this lil baby was made to play them.

NEGATIVES: Well, this controller is cheap in price. I got what I paid for. Only used for one day and the R2 button can no longer be pressed it is permanently locked down. It was working fine at first, until it suddenly stopped working without explanation. I used it with normal gameplay and no harsh usage or dropping. Also disregarding the broken button on the first day, the directional pad is not very fun to play games with when it requires accurate and quick actions. Also, design-wise: there is no start or select button, so R1/R2/L1/L2 must be programmed to do so.

POSITIVES: The controller itself does not feel like it will crack if you hold it firmly. It serves it's basic purpose. If I was simply unlucky with a faulty controller, then this product might be fine. It is probably one of the cheapest controllers. Had no problems with the A,B,X,Y buttons. Plug-and-play immediately with no software installations-very simple and user friendly (but keep in mind most other controllers will be also).

Overall experience: It is okay. Durability is probably its greatest fault, then the D-pad's accuracy on precise and quick actions. Other than that there are no complaints because the rest works fine.

And trust me, I am not a picky critic I generally like most things, but this just didn't hit the spot. It'll work, but it's just not what I would depend on for quality/durability.

I got this for my kids who play video games from time to time on our home pc. I thought it would be easier for them then using the keyboard keys. All I did was plug it into the back of the pc & it worked right away without any type of extra set up. We have only had it for about a month so only time will tell about the quality of it...but so far so good.

A lot of PC gamers would be very thankful for this joypad.

PROS: Smooth operation, great response.

CONS: Some slowness on some MAME games, and some floatiness on others.

I got this controller to play old school 8-bit system emulators. It works fine, but after the first 5 minutes of use the 3 button began sticking and started becoming stuck down. It doesn't seem to affect game playing, but it makes the controller feel weird. It's kind of slippery and bulky. Similar in appearance to Xbox controller. It's probably not the best controller for what I'm doing. I would not buy another one.

I play some racing game very occasionally. My old gamepad needs a game port but my new computer does not have it. So I figured that maybe I need a basic gamepad.

For the price, the gamepad is a good buy. Overal build quality is good with typical plastical feel. The connection to computer under windows vista is smooth and calibration is accurate.

The biggest complain is that the direction control is not comfortable to hold. It sticks out from the pad too much and difficult to control when playing racing game. If you have a big thumb, you may give it a shot. Otherwise, you get what you paid: a basic gamepad.

this is the worst control ever, it doesnt have start nor select button WTF i cant go to peee, i cant pause the game!!!!!!!!!!!!! dont buy it pliz buyer bewared!!!

I bought this planning to prepare my new computer for games. For the price it's a decent pick. The buttons are nice and there's enough of a USB cord to move around. My only complain is that not all games are configured to it and some of the ones that are keep telling me about a ninth button, which there isn't. Other than that it works great.
