Product Description

MaxTow's Double Vision® Series Transmission Temperature Gauge is an electronically driven truck gauge that includes an electronic temperature sensor that reads and displays your vehicle's automatic transmission temperature from 80 to 260 degrees Fahrenheit with unmatched accuracy. This gauge allows you to easily monitor the temperature of your transmission, ensuring that is does not overheat and cause major damage, making it perfect for any truck with an automatic transmission that is towing heavy loads.

MaxTow's Double Vision Gauge Series features a green digital LED display, as well as an illuminated red needle, which will give you the classic look of an analog gauge while also giving you an easy to read green LED numerical readout. This 2 1/16 inch (52mm) gauge features stepper motor technology which allows for all needle movement to be exceptionally smooth and all gauge readings to be extremely accurate, ensuring your truck's vital parts are functioning properly. Our transmission temperature gauge also features innovative daytime and nighttime dimming modes with three customizable brightness settings (low, medium, high) for each mode, giving you multiple dimming options that allow you to set your individual preference!

MaxTow's transmission temperature diesel gauge includes a 1/8th NPT transmission temperature sensor that is easily installed to your transmissions test port or by replacing your stock sensor, and features extended wire harnesses for both power (3 ft) and transmission temperature sensor (9 ft) connections, assuring that you'll have more than enough wire for your install. All gauge mounting hardware and installation instructions come standard with every gauge purchased, as well as a one year warranty and free lifetime technical support.

This is a nice gauge and I installed it on my 1999 Dodge Ram with a new deeper tranny pan but it is very very bright at nighttime. I mounted it on a A-pillar with a Autometer pod. Even in the lowest dimmer setting it's to bright. So bright at night I can't even get my dash lights to match it when there turned all the way up and it sorta blinds me from seeing better while driving at night from the light emitting from it. I did like the gauge so I went to a window tinting place and had them place Limo Tint over the display. This did the trick and now it's not blinding and a better match to the dash lighting. The overwhelming brightness might not be an issue if the gauge is mounted further out of view like down by the floor shifter.

Fantastic especially for the price.
I use my Dodge Ram V-10 for snow plowing which can be fatal to automatic transmissions. I can now keep an eye on how hot it's getting and let it cool if need be. My transmission seems to hover around 120 to 155 under "normal" driving. When pushing heavy snow for a length of time it gets to about 190. I stop the heavy plowing at that temp to let it cool down by normal driving.

I had my local trans. shop put the sensor in a port on my tranney and I connected all the electrical. Finding all the right wires was a challenge but I got it done.

Only drawback as previously mentioned by another reviewer, too bright even though I connected it so it dims when headlights are on. I will be looking to dim the display with some sort of film on the display as others did.

Great investment for saving thousands of $$ in trans repair.

The guage functions perfectly, responds quickly, and I love it- during the daytime. At night, it is absolutely unusable without a broken off sunglass lens propped in front of it:) I installed it in my dash right before a road trip, and I disconnected it when night hit. Yes, it is that bright, shining at you. If it was installed in a guage pod on your A-pillar.... Good luck:)

However, having said that, put a piece of dark plastic over it and go. It's awesome. I would definitely buy another one. The digital display is much better than looking at an analog one. I love it in spite of its one minor flaw. As long as you know it needs a shade going in, you can't go wrong with it.

I have a 2005 Honda Pilot, and decided to bypass the radiator for transmission cooling as these radiators are known to mix tranny fluid and antifreeze with age. I installed an external cooler and added this inline. I mounted it behind the steering wheel on the drivers side and found that the steering wheel blocks the gauge, so the excess brightness doesn't bother me at night. It's a great thing for peace of mind, and I found it to be a good product overall. Also, it was the only gauge I found in green, the color of my dash panel.

Its made in Taiwan but I have to say for the price point, if it last, its a job well done. Its features also nice. Comes with all the wiring and pieces to do job the correct way. Plugs made up right and done well. 1/8 pipe temp prob for the Transmission pan too.

Cool, JP

I bought this guage to monitor transmission fluid temps when towing a 4300 lb boat with my 2003 Ford Explorer. I bought a Trick Flow deep trans pan from Summit Racing (sorry Amazon, you didn't stock it !) and installed that too. I had a friend tap a 1/8 NPT port (for the temp sensor) on the rear side of the pan. I mounted this guage (alongside a Max Tow engine oil temp guage) at the forward end of the console. (see picture) The temperature when towing on 95 degree days stays between 160-1185 degrees. The 5 speed trannys in the Exploders are known to overheat. Fluid is cooled by 3 ways: hot fluid out to factory cooler, then to a B & M auxiliary cooler, and then to the deep sump Trick Flow pan. So far, so good. No issues. Some reviewers said the guages are bright. Yes, they are, but being mounted at the forward part of the console keeps the light down low enough so that it doesn't interfere with night time driving. All in all, great guage and Amazons great price.

I had to install a "tee" in the hot line from the transmission to the cooler because my 2007 Highlander has an internal sender which operates a light. This was easy, and the gauge worked superbly. There are no aftermarket pods for a Highlander so I had to improvise when it came to mounting the gauge - settled with a temporary mount. I had to tow a 4000 lb trailer 1000 miles so I wanted to keep an eye on the transmission temperature, and this gauge worked fine, was easy to read while driving even at night. Disconnected and removed the gauge following the trip.
