The unit's four-legged stand suspends a rectangular-shaped dish over two receptacles that can each hold a Sterno heat source--great for keeping food hot and delicious for hours. Two interior serving dishes, each measuring 12-1/2 by 10-1/8 inches, fit inside a main dish, which measures 21-7/8 by 13-3/4 inches. Filling the main dish with water helps evenly distribute heat from the open flame below. When not filled with water, the dish can also be used as a convenient oven baker. Fully assembled, the chafing dish measures 25-3/4 by 14 by 13-3/4 inches.

I recently received this chafing dish for $59.76 and was perplexed when I opened it and discovered it was not as nice as pictured nor was it accurately advertised! The description for this product was wrong when it stated: "The thoughtfully designed unit features two loop side handles for secure transport, as well as a highly polished stainless-steel lid with a loop handle that helps keep in the heat." The nice looped handles are nothing but flat pieces of stainless steel bent to form a handle.
Furthermore, the chafing dish was supposed to include "two interior serving dishes, each measuring 12-1/2 by 10-1/8 inches, fit inside a main dish, which measures 21-7/8 by 13-3/4 inches."....these also were not included in the package. All that was received was the main dish you fill with water, the much shallower food insert, a lid and two Sterno receptacles. Upon further investigation on Amazon, I discovered there was another Maxam Chafing dish being advertised with the same image, for a much higher price. Maxam® Stainless Steel Chafing Dish. I had intended on buying a couple more chafing dishes from Amazon if they looked like the image and description advertised. At this point, I'm unimpressed with the product. It will work fine and will surely accomplish its purpose of keeping food warm...although it lacks the "elegance" the product description claimed.
