This is not just a great bass for the price, it's a great bass for ANY price. I have been playing bass for over 40 years, and I am as happy with this as I am with any other bass I own. It has a great, fat sound down low, with a really nice, clear tone. Up high is nice and crisp. The respose is great whether you're picking, fingering or slapping. The neck is EXTREMELY highly sanded, so your hand slides like butter. Lightweight, but solid enough to let you know it isn't a toy. Instead of going in to sickening detail, I'll just say this: There is absolutely nothing that I don't love about this bass. I'll stack it next to my Rick and my B.C. Rich with pride.

First off.. its made in china.. no surprise there.I was expecting sub par sound and performance. But to my surprise.. this Bass is no slouch. Its punchy.. good action right out of the box. real warm tone. solid sound when used for metal type music. even through my little 10 watt crate practice amp..this Bass sounded great. I have a 100 watt peavey bass amp and all I can tell you is WOW. Its more than what you expect. Don't let the price fool you. This is a true piece of equipment. I'm using it for my studio recordings and I am very satisfied with this product.Great buy and no loose knobs or plug. Recieved in excellent condition. I highly recommend this instrument for beginners for sure.. but also for veterans in the music field. Kudos to the seller and Thank you Amazon for making my first shopping experience with you a good one. I will definetly continue shopping here.

Let me preface by saying I was skeptical about this instrument for some time. I haven't had the best luck with sub $200 guitars, most have been utter crap. So imagine my relief when upon inspection and a few weeks of playing, that this bass ain't no slouch.

I bought a really crappy amp to practice with, dang thing wouldn't even go past 3 on the volume knob, I was worried the bass pickups were too weak to produce a decent sound. I swapped amps with my crate guitar amp and recorded the ensuing jam with a friend. Talk about thick sound! Color me impressed.

Now don't get it confused, as others have said, this thing will require set up. I had to adjust the truss rod several full turns to get the slinkys I put on to get off the fret board, infact, i think I stripped it out, crappy chinese pot metal. So be aware of that. Luckily, the action was just about perfect before the strip lol.

I also had to tighten the knobs, as they were loose and about to fall off, no biggie. There are 2 volume, and 1 tone, and as others have said, the tone doesn't alter much, well, it appeared so on my crappy amp, but on my crate, the tone knob made a noticeable change. The volume knobs also shut off completely with an 8th of a turn, no range whatsoever. I am planning on throwing in some better pickups later, but as it stands, all in all, the sound will do.

In summation, for $120 you get a steal of a bass, hands down. I had this bass in my wishlist for months pacing back and forth between this one and a $200 yamaha. I've played guitar for 6 years and wanted to try my hand at bass, but didn't want to invest as much as i have into my guitar. This is worth every bit of that $120.

Man have I had some s***ty bass guitars but I can assure you that this is not one of them! This guitar sounds excellent and plays like a 200 dollars guitar AT LEAST. For the price I paid (120 dollars), it is worth every single penny. Sure its made in China( and its an unknown brand) but mostly everything is these days. Excellent for a beginner! Don't buy those other bass/amp packages that they sell for the same price, buy this instead! Slap it, pick it, finger it, it all sounds excellent on this and I do not plan on getting rid of it anytime soon.

I had to drill out the bridge to put larger strings on it. It really does not sound that great compared to some of the higher end bass guitars that I have played but it does work and allows me to add some bass to my songs.

I bought this as a back up bass for my daughter so we wouldn't have to keep taking a bass to school, which is more of a pain then it should be. So far she likes it better then her Squire Jaguar.

Never played a guitar in my life but I had an urge to learn plus a few gift cards.
From what I have seen on my buddies (who CAN play) rig, The strings were way too high and some adjustments were needed. No big deal.
They seemed to like it, said "not bad, pretty good for the money"
The guitar is fairly heavy and has a good feel. Nothing cheesy about it. After a couple months of learning basics and playing along with Rocksmith 2014, I changed the strings. I used Ernie Ball Super Slinky (medium) and noticed a huge change in tone. Sounds much better.
I have toyed with the idea of putting active pickups in and really haven't made up my mind if it would be worth doing.
All in all, as a non-pro, I would recommend this Bass.
Oh, btw, having started with zero talent. after a year of practice... I still have zero talent!
However, it is FUN! Very pleased.
