4.0 out of 5 stars For the price, tough to beat
Not a bad battery deal. While they don't last as long as some other batteries I've tried, their cost per battery more than makes up for it. For those that care about such things, they contain no mercury, no cadmium, and are made in China.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shipped product different than Avertised Product
The avertised product read "Maxell Gold". But, what is shipped is not the same.
I don't recommend this product.

So you really can't beat 40 AA batteries for $10. However, these guys really don't last that long when you are constantly using them. But what really does? I bought them when I purchased a Nintendo Wii, because I figured that they are cheaper than buying rechargeable batteries. I'd say that I go through a set of two batteries every other week (the Wii really eats up power). The value pack is nice because it separates the batteries into 10 sets of 4 batteries so they're easily transportable and don't shuffle around. Overall I recommend this product if you need a lot of cheap batteries. If you need batteries that last longer, go to the more expensive ones or rechargable ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars AA Batteries in Bulk, February 8, 2007

You gotta love this deal! A bunch of AA batteries at a killer price with next to nothing for shipping. Obviously I just got them so I can't yet say how long they'll last, but the first 8 that my 8 year old has eaten up in his remote RC monster Jeep have run perhaps 30% longer each than their fully charged rechargable counterparts. I feel like they were a great deal and I'd buy them again in a month or two when this batch runs low.

I can tell no difference in these batteries opposed to the high end. No more high priced dept. store batteries for me! As far as the electrogalaxy deal I have no idea, but these are sold thru Amazon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good deal, August 13, 2006

I can't vouch for ElectroGalaxy in this case, but these batteries are a very good deal, and are also available from other Amazon resellers as well, at even better rates.

They last pretty long, and are likely to beat any other options you'll find in retail stores.

One obvious caveat, of course, is to carefully check the refund policies of those from whom you buy. For example--do they have restocking fees, and if so, how much; do they take back opened packages? If for some reason your batteries arrive, dead, you'll want to be able to return them, with no cost consequences.

Another caveat is the shipping cost. Check to make sure your dealer doesn't charge so much as to wipe out the cost advantage of buying this package here.

In cases of rotten dealers, Amazon's A-Z guarantee claim system can help tremendously, as I recently learned to my delight, though it's best to avoid needing it.

But for alkaline-eating kids, this is a good solution, short of investing in rechargers and expensive rechargeable batteries.

I've always hated not having a battery when I need one. Buying in bulk really minimizes the problem. Good price and fast delivery.

These aren't the longest lasting batteries on the shelf, but given the price they are more than worth the money spent.

We go through quite a few batteries at work, and these have saved us quite a bit of money over longer-lasting, but considerably more expensive brands.

Maxell makes a great battery although they aren't quite the best I've ever used; but these batteries will nevertheless show you how good they are made once you try them. I really like this because I often travel by public transportation and I use my portable CD player to listen to music. I always get a lot of use out of these Maxell AA batteries.

Of course, these AA batteries can be used in anything that requires them--not just portable CD players. The pack of forty offers value, too; and that's important in these expensive times!

Use these batteries before their expiration date. The expiration date will always be several years into the future; but some people still have them lying around in a dresser drawer anyway. The problem is not only do they lose their potency; the batteries also begin to corrode. When the batteries corrode eventually a whitish powdery sticky substance begins to leak out of them and this makes a mess--trust me!

Do NOT dispose of these or ever place these in or near a fire. They could indeed explode. I wouldn't carry them loose either--they should be protected in their cardboard case or they should be already installed in your portable CD player, your flashlight or whatever device you placed them into.

Overall, these Maxell AA size batteries are one of the better choices if you need AA size batteries. I recommend them for any device that needs AA size batteries.
