5.0 out of 5 stars the best case design in exhistence
I don't know how you could improve on the design(with out maybe a built in shell of the CD it's self as in cassettes) most CDs(especially DVD's and ROMS) get damaged really easily even with the door swing jewel cases becasue IF they fall off and open the disc flys out on the floor. this can cause light optical damage as well as physical scratching. Some pennypinching person (or people) at Maxell (or its supplier) ruined a great 5-star product. In the past, these cases were superb and made in the United States. Over time, they were redesigned to be lighter in weight and more flimsy.

With these(cases) the molded plastic locks them at the hub and outside for an air tight seel and it is no larger than the CD itself, you can store two of thse to one of the others and they can be stored in an overhead hutch cabnet even better than the "slim" line square ones. don't try explaining this to a sales rep at Office max, you'll only send thier brains reeling and get an insult hurled your way. they think "slim" is "slim" and square is all most locals carry anyway... but the diameter is less here too. so if you have vintage CD's or games played on "Starforce" which absolutely MUST have a perfectly polished CD then get these here, you'll never worry about accidents again!(even with rigid and heavily policied copy protective discs).

I bought these for my son as a christmas gift as he takes cd's out with him and usually those plastic cases crack or break. I love these, they are flexible, hold up, and now I have to get some for myself. Great to put video game disks in too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clam shell for your DVD's & CD's, October 12, 2007

A simple case to carry your DVD or CD that is safer then a sleeve. A little trick is that the case locks and unlocks by pressing the button in the middle.

Each case will hold one CD or DVD.

The cases I received from Amazon in early 2011 were made in China and the material in the hinge area of each case is so thin that I will not be surprised when the first one breaks. I rate the product at 2.5 stars in the 2011 configuration but will round up to 3 stars since no cases have broken yet. However, I will buy a different product when I need new cases.

These guys look sharp and are quite sturdy. You get what you pay for applies here. The cheaper square thin hard plastic covers come off the hinge & break or shatter easily. The plastic used on this clam shell version is flexible, it closes easily & stays that way, and provides for a good looking presentation. The colors are great.

I'm happy to have these and at a good price, but the primary colors I received are completely different from the ones pictured. I was looking forward to having the pastel colors to differentiate some of my many DVDs. I am glad to find these clamshell cases on Amazon though, as I could no longer find them in stores.

For centuries, We've endured cheap, styrene plastic jewel cases that were designed to break and be replaced ($$$). Even to this day, I coud not find these in almost every store I went to! Lol! And the store that had them, wanted a ridiculous amount of money, because they knew they had to un-load the hordes of cheap, styrene plastic jewel cases on their shelves... So, i came to Amazon for my purchase. Love these cases! Inexpensive and above all else, DURABLE and virtually unbreakable.

Love the colors, love the snap shut. Work great for protecting DVD's and CDs for shipping and general storage. Would buy again.

I purchased these for my son's DVDs so we can travel light. It is a great product, closes well and opens easily. The material is flexible unlike other thin clear cases, and it is hard to break. Very satisfied with the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Someone finally got it right!, November 4, 2008

Top Dawg (Joliet, IL, USA) - See all my reviews
They've tried paper, cardboard and they've repeated the mistakes of the old Cassette cases. Now finally there's a CD case that you can carry and that will in turn, carry your CDs without breaking 'em! You can even trust the Post Office, UPS or Fed-Ex with your CDs if you put them in these things. Why are they so much harder to find than fall-apart "Jewel" cases?
