5.0 out of 5 stars Great!
Exactly what I was looking for. I found some of these a few years ago at Sam's Club, but had not seen them since. Ideal for sending, ideal for filing in a file box. And I received them promptly. Thanks.

2.0 out of 5 stars No tabs to open
These clam-shell cases were thin, hard to close, and did not have the tabs on the top to help you open the cases. Because they are thin, they are very flexible, and I could see that a CD could get bent with enough pressure placed on them incorrectly. I could easily bend them with my fingers. The thicker clam-shells do not bend -- if you use your fingers to try to bend...

5.0 out of 5 stars Product is exactly as advertised, March 29, 2011

The Maxell CD-356 Slims 5mm Clam-Shell Cases are clear, thin, open and close easily, and are made of a semi-flexible plastic that prevents them from cracking and breaking as the hard plastic regular CD cases inevitably will do. In other words, these are exactly as advertised. They may not be the very best cases available, but they fulfill the function they were intended for at a reasonable price; thus the five stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars They work., June 30, 2011

they do their job. They hold CDs and I haven't had any break. It's kind of hard to organize them because if you stack them they tend to slide, but their job is to hold and protect CDs which they do well. I like them because they don't take up much more space than the disk itself. Also, I have mailed CDs in them and haven't had any reports of disks arriving damaged.

It brings organization to loose cd's. I would have given this product five star but it doesnt snap as tight as I would like and the shipping and handling is overpriced. It is still a good purchase.

After reading the other reviews I thought I was taking a chance ordering these.

However, they are GREAT, no problems closing them, nice quality, and the

transparency is wonderful because you can see your label.

Clear is better. With the colored clam-shell cases, you can't see the CD label through the colored plastic. Yes, the cases are a bit thin but they work just fine. If they were thicker, I would have given a 5-star rating.

These cases are great for the storage of any DVDS and could also be handy for CD storage. They really save space opposed to the original cases the medias come in!

I can no longer get these locally so I am pleased to see them on Amazon (cheaper than they were at Walmart too). This is the only kind I like because they do not break.

4.0 out of 5 stars good--but not great (three and one-half stars), November 17, 2007

These slim jewel cases in a "clamshell" shape by Maxell provide sturdy protection for CDs; but they can also store DVDs as well as CD-Rs, DVD-Rs, and more! I have been fortunate in that the cases I bought never cracked when I tried to open them.

Moreover, these slender jewel cases provide excellent storage for media and they measure less than half the width of the older, original jewel cases that seem far too wide and "fat" today. You can stick a "post-it" note to the front of the jewel case to indicate what's on the disc inside, too. These jewel cases can be storing discs on bookshelves, cabinet shelves or whatever.

These colorless plastic cases keep each disc firmly in place inside the plastic case. That's a great added feature--and you can also see the disc being stored without having to open the jewel case.

However, there's one drawback that I absolutely hate--these cases are difficult to store in rows along a shelf of my cabinet. The clamshell base is too small for the media holder to stay straight up for long periods of time; and they inevitably wind up slipping and sliding about on the shelf when I want to find something on the cabinet shelf. This irks me and I will take off one and one-half stars for this problem.

I still think that these CD/DVD jewel cases provide compact yet sturdy storage for media. Be careful how you store them on shelves, however, or else they'll get loose and fall everywhere when you try to find something on a shelf where they've been stored.

Three and one-half stars.
