5.0 out of 5 stars Maxell blank audio tapes are great., August 16, 2004

First off, any idiot who uses these fine blank music quality cassetts for speech recording, as is suggested in the lame desctiption, deserves to pay so much. Setiously, I have used these tapes for years to record music and I am still listening to some I had recorded over 15 years ago. I can't say I have ever had a "lemon" tape; all have been up to the highest performance. P.S.: If you are looking for speech or "normal" bias tapes, go for the Maxell UR tapes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maxell's "XL2" will excel for you, July 3, 2007
This review is from: Maxell(R) Cassette Audio Tape, 60-Minute High Bias Standard, Pack Of 5 (Electronics)
As the author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent", a former radio disc-jockey, and a collector of music I am often asked to write and or discuss various tape products as well as recordings from the 60's and 70's.

The Maxell XL2 and XL2S have long been the standard for blank chrome tapes (Position 2). The long term reliability is superlative as well as the initial quality.

I have used thousands of Maxell tapes the past three decades plus and have never been disappointed with their audio tape or video.

In order to receive the optimum performances please keep the tape heads clean. If they are not regardless of the great product, you will hear a muddy sound on playback.

For music recording Maxell's chrome tape will surpass the harshest critic's expectations. If you are recording voice, only Maxell's Position 1 (Normal Bias) will be suitable for your needs.

Enjoy the music and be well,
Craig Fenton

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best and Most Consistent Blank Audio Cassettes, February 9, 2007
By
This review is from: Maxell(R) Cassette Audio Tape, 60-Minute High Bias Standard, Pack Of 5 (Electronics)
I prefer Audio Cassette Tape Recording over CD recordings. I find the sound to be richer, more dynamic and much more consistent over homemade CD recordings. I always preferred 60 minute blank tapes over 90 and 100 minute Capsule tapes. I have always used Maxells. The 60-Minute High Bias Type II is the best. I have recordings I made in 1987 of THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS soundtrack and of a-ha's first album and they sound excellent to this day. The Pack of Five is a good value all around.
