5.0 out of 5 stars Repackaged Taiyo Yuden Discs
I purchased these discs looking for a better then average disc. When I placed them in my Plextor drive I was very pleased to find that they are in fact Taiyo Yuden discs. They are of the highest quality and reliability, you can't go wrong with these discs. I haven't coastered one disc in ~ 500 burns.

3.0 out of 5 stars Maxell CD-R Pro no longer Taiyo Yuden
I was disappointed to find that Maxell's CD-R Pro discs are no longer rebadged Taiyo Yuden discs with the blueish "super cyanine" dye. The outer package has a paper sticker over the UPC indicating "Made In Taiwan" but I opened the cake anyway. Yes, they are generic Maxell discs by Ritek. Makes me wonder about the archival claims on the outer wrapper which, by the way,...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best CD-R On The Market, August 24, 2005
This review is from: Maxell CD-R (Photo) Pro Series With Spindle, 700MB/80 Minutes, Pack Of 25 (Electronics)
These CD-Rs are manufactured in Japan and are the best I have ever used. They are well balanced and operate at high speeds with minimal vibration. I have played these back on various computer drives, new and old CD players. I'm on my 5th spindle and have not had a single bad disc.

If you are looking for a CD-R for music playback, the gold Maxell Music or Music-Pro are also excellent choices. I have not had a problem with any of these products on any player.

Superb reflectivity. If you're having trouble playing other CD-Rs on your equipment, try these. Zero errors. Extreme durability and longevity. I just wish I could find them in a less expensive 100 disc spindle!

Makes me wonder about the archival claims on the outer wrapper which, by the way, has "Made In Japan" printed under the UPC oversticker. Perhaps now that T-Y is owned by JVC they did not want competing branding?

These discs will be okay for data use but only T-Y discs will play without skipping in my car stereo. C'est la vie.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST BLANK CDS AVAILABLE!, January 14, 2008
This review is from: Maxell CD-R (Photo) Pro Series With Spindle, 700MB/80 Minutes, Pack Of 25 (Electronics)
I've had several instances where my blank CDs were scratched so badly from general use that they wouldn't play properly. But this isn't the case with these puppies because they have an amazing 3 anti-scratch coatings. Sometimes I got blank CDs with very little writing surface but this isn't the case with these well designed gems because they have 8 lines on front. They always burn with no problems. In sum, these are the very best CD blanks money can buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Completely satisfactory for me., July 15, 2007
This review is from: Maxell CD-R (Photo) Pro Series With Spindle, 700MB/80 Minutes, Pack Of 25 (Electronics)
Bought these after hearing my music CDs skip on certain players. These Maxells (made in Japan) have been terrific. They play flawlessly on any CD player I've come across.

1.0 out of 5 stars NO LONGER MADE IN JAPAN! now made in CHINA! CAUTION, January 14, 2011
I just recieved 5 sets of these 25pk maxell cdr pro. I am very sad to say they are GARBAGE!!! heres why:

-just the print is not even and smudged on the cd's, unbelievable!
-there are many artifacts/imperfections on the cd media side, this can guarantee caused cd errors
-each of the packs i opend all had small particles, pieces of plastic floating around on all the discs and spindles
these floating peices of plastic, god forbid if they go into your cd/dvd drive will ruin the drive
-the ink on the CD's use to be a strong Phthalocyanin dye (deep dark green) now they are POOR off the shelf cheap cd dye's

I am very sad to see such a great product ruined.

DO NOT BUY THESE, TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY! i would give it negative star rating if possible

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MADE IN CHINA!!!

if you need a good cd and can spend the money just get gold delkins already.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maxell cd-r Pro series, October 24, 2008
This review is from: Maxell CD-R (Photo) Pro Series With Spindle, 700MB/80 Minutes, Pack Of 25 (Electronics)
These Maxell cds came in a great shape. No damage box. I had purchased two of them. They can be hard to find in the stores. I have used them and they have a great quality. I know the price is a great price. I will order them again when I need more of them. I use them for saving my photos. They stay true to the colors and they are very clear. I like the idea also that they have extra protection for nonscratching. This is a very strong decision when I want my photos on the cds to last. I would highly recommend these cds. Maxell has done a great job. They were delivered very quickly. I also would rate this company who I ordered with a five star for packaging and delivery.

1.0 out of 5 stars Maxell keeps packaging the wrong product, March 1, 2010

This review is from: Maxell CD-R (Photo) Pro Series With Spindle, 700MB/80 Minutes, Pack Of 25 (Electronics)
I've been a fan of Maxell CD-R Pro for years, but in the last few months everywhere I've tried to purchase it (at stores or online) the discs are actually the PHOTO CD-R Pro though it's in the packaging for the regular CD-R Pro. If I wanted the Photo CD-R Pro I'd buy that since they are easy to distinguish by not only the packaging but by looking at the top of the spindle you can clearly see it is a different disc. Despite how easy it is to see the difference it seems that online sellers don't actually look at what they are sending. When they look at the top of the spindle it's very easy to see the difference between the CD-R Pro (black and gold on top) and the Photo CD-R Pro (silver and yellow on top). I've contacted Maxell about this but have received no response about why the CD-R Pro is no longer in the packaging for it. Amazon also supposedly is looking into this but weeks later I haven't heard from them either. The CD-R Pro is a great product. I'd give it 5 stars, but as long as the wrong product shows up it will get the worst rating possible.
