It is also pretty light compared to other car seats (although it was still too heavy for my wife).

Hands down, I love this carseat, here's why: - the fabric is very nice as has good padding. - easy to remove the cover for cleaning.

The other great thing about the Maxi Cosi Mico is that they are compatible with many of the high end strollers.

We have this infant carrier in Steel Gray for our daughter. The color is slightly darker than what is pictured, but is very nice looking. Hands down, I love this carseat, here's why:
- the fabric is very nice as has good padding.
- easy to remove the cover for cleaning. (My daughter spit up all over herself and the seat, but I was able to easily remove the harness straps and the cover and hand wash the cover and pads (machine wash is not recommended), I then rolled the cover in a towel to dry it as much as I could and put it in the dryer on low heat to fully dry). The straps were wiped down with a damp washcloth.
- seat is very lightweight. I think it's about 8 pounds
- the handle is a smooth seamless piece and is comfortable to grip.
- the handle can be in any locked position while in the car (according to the maxi-cosi website).
- the stay-in-car base has a tilt adjuster. This was really nice because my back seats are fairly angled, but I was able to adjust the base so the seat was level.
- Newer models (the pattern with the circles) of this carseat have standard metal buckles that can be inserted individually. When this seat was first released in the US, it had a puzzle lock where the two pieces had to be fit together and then inserted, but now it is like most other carseat buckles.
- the canopy is nice. it doesn't take up a lot of space and stays where you put it. Previous versions of this seat had a bulky canopy that reviewers often complained fell down.
- this seat, when paired with a Quinny Zapp makes a really slick travel system!
- you can adjust the straps easily with the button at the front of the seat.

Color Name: Steel Grey Verified Purchase
Hi, just wanted to point out, that when we received the car seat, it came with a base! It does not sound like that from the description or by looking at the current picture above. I am not sure if this was a one off or normal? Just wanted to mention it as we bought a separate base from Health Check Systems (via Amazon) which we are returning but unfortunately are getting hit with a 10% restocking fee. I would check this with Amazon and the seller before you buy a separate base...

As for a review of the seat itself, we were familiar with Maxi Cosi from living in England (very popular brand there) and it is compatible with our Bugaboo Chameleon. It is a shame that it does not have the same higher weight limit as other US brands (Chicco, Graco) but compared to those, it is much lighter and I think, more fashionable. The other brands always seem so bulky to me. Our first daughter was very happy in her Maxi Cosi car seat. As someone else mentioned the fabric is nice and as we live now in a warm climate, I think it will hold up well and not make our new child sweat too much. When the base is installed, it does have some give to it, but as long as you really tighten it by pushing down with your hand, as they suggest, it should be fine. The sun shade on the US version is an improvement from the UK one, but still not great, but I am not sure any car seat has a great shade. Best to purchase one of those separate covers if you really need it. A note to anyone else trying to use a UK Maxi Cosi in a US car, it is NOT compatible with the US car base. If you still want to use the UK model, you need to use the seat belt option.

We hated our Graco car seat for my son. So, we looked for a new seat for my second child. Safety, comfort and the feel of the fabric was very important to me. Our baby is an August baby, so I was looking for something she can seat in with short sleeves and shorts rubbing her skin to the car seat and not get scratched and be able to breathe. I looked at all models, Chicco, Graco, PegPreggo and Maxi Cosi (this year's model, I am not sure about old versions) was the best. It has a cotton feel and much nicer and more breathable than all others. It is not for families with big kids because the max weight is 22lb. However, I don't like to carry a big baby in a car seat anyway. So, I will move her to a big rear facing car seat when she hits 22lb. On the down side, it is harder than Chicco to put in the base. Taking out for both of them is easy. You have to make sure the handle is out, otherwise, it won't click. For Chicco, you don't need to check anything. This is, I guess, very important, but having had one child, I think I can handle this. I rather have a light weight comfy and nice looking car seat. Ours is in intense red and is very vibrant and beautiful. I will try to update this after we try it with our daughter in less than a month!

After a lot of consideration and reading of reviews, I chose the Mico car seat for a few very good reasons:

- The fabric was cotton like, not sticky, plastic or vinyl like some others I've seen. I live in Las Vegas and my son was born in the summer, so this was a very important consideration. Even though, his back still got very warm in the seat and he cried from being uncomfortable. I can only imagine it'd be worse with the other fabrics. The cover is also easily removed and washed.

-This seat is highly compatible with the Baby Jogger City Select stroller we purchased and also the Quinny Zap which we purchased later. I love that the seat can pop onto either one with ease.

There are some drawbacks to the seat, but I don't know how they compare with other brands as I've never used another seat.

- The seat is sometimes difficult to get popped into the base. I think the lever sometimes sticks in a position, so you have to get it unstuck before the seat properly snaps in. This is terrible when your baby is very young because it takes a lot of jiggling and is very jarring. Hope the baby wasn't sleeping because they for sure aren't now!
- Also makes a quite loud and jarring click when inserting the seat normally, not very convenient for the child you're trying not to disturb.
- Canopy could be a bit better. It doesn't quite cover enough to keep the sun out. It really depends on your vehicle though and the windows. In an SUV it works pretty well, in a car where the sun shines directly through the back window, a nightmare. We only had a car for a rental and the baby cried because the sun was directly in his face and there's not much you can do besides cover the seat with a blanket.
_The straps are a bit annoying.
