3.0 out of 5 stars First unit broke after one use
The first unit that was delivered boiled water once which you need to do before you make coffee the first time. It never worked again. I contacted the supplier 'MaxTool' and was told that I was responsible for the return postage. I love paying extra for getting a defective product. I will never purchase anything thing that is provided by MaxTool in the future...

The descriptions available online for this product are not complete. Not only is the filter basket removable, washable, and operates as a paper-less filter system, but the part that encases the filter, is both removable and washable. Whoever made this coffee maker is brilliant. Though, like most brilliant people, they assumed that everyone thinks the way they do. A drawback to this product is that you cannot open or close the filter basket when the coffee pot is in place on the element. You just have to remember the pot is the last to go into place and the first to come off. This unit makes great coffee. The parts go in the dishwasher. It looks great on the kitchen counter... the design is exceptional. I am delighted with my purchase.

The second unit works fine, nothing spectacular and makes a good cup of coffee.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT COFFEE MARKER, November 23, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When i first saw the box i was like wow! this coffee maker is really small but size isn't everything. This coffee marker works like a charm it keeps your coffee warm for a much longer time than my other coffee markers. Its a must have unless you drink more than 4 cups of coffee a day or you have a large family were everyone is a coffee lover.

5.0 out of 5 stars ELITE CUISINE EHC2022 4 CUP COFFEE MAKER REVIEW, November 8, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I WAS SUPRISED HOW GOOD A COFFEE MAKER IT REALLY IS. COFFEE IS HOT AND VERY GOOD. IT BREWS FASTER AND MAKES BETTER COFFEE THAN THE BIG, MORE EXPENSIVE COFFEE MAKER I HAVE AT WORK. THE ONLY NEGATIVE COMMENT I HAVE IS THE CLUMSY CONE HANDLE YOU HAVE TO PULL TO OPEN THE CONE SHAPPED COFFEE HOLDER. OTHERWISE EVERYTHING IS VERY GOOD. ESPECIALLY THE FACT THAT THE ELITE CUISINE EHC2022 CAN MAKE COFFEE WITHOUT PAPER FILTERS. IN SUM IF YOU WANT AN INEXPENSIVE, NO FRILLS GOOD COFFEE MAKER THEN THE ELITE CUISINE EHC2022 4 CUP COFFEE MAKER IS FOR YOU.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Lil' Coffee Maker, December 19, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a great coffee maker at a great price. The coffee comes out hotter than my big coffee maker. The washable reusable filter is great, but you can use those desposable filters too. A couple of things to note: 1: you can't open the filter tray with the coffee pot in it's place, it has to be taken out 2: the filter tray is a little hard to open..you have to hold onto the machine and open it otherwise you might tip the entire thing over since it's small and light.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good But Not Great, February 14, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Maxi-Matic EHC-2022 4 Cup Pause 'N Serve Coffee Maker
I've tried so many 4-cup coffee makers, I was very pleased to find this one with such great reviews.

The good news: It makes a great cup of really hot coffee. The design of the brew basket is great -- it not only swings out, but you can remove the filter in a little basket. It is very compact and cute!

The bad news: When it arrived, I was suprised at how lightweight and flimsy it was. Yes, just like the ones in hotel rooms. I have had mine for five months now, and this morning the very flimsy plastic lid on the glass carafe broke off. Without it completely attached and correctly seated, the coffee doesn't flow down into the carafe and just sits in the brewer. This may sound like a minor problem, but the lid attachment is very flimsy and light and I'm surprised it held together as long as it did.

Still looking for the perfect 4-cup coffee maker.

To settle the "4 cups" debate - this coffeemaker brews 20 ounces max, which divides out to 5 ounce "cups" of coffee. I'm guessing by this that coffeemakers got left out of the "super size" American evolution. However to put it in perspective, 20 ounces is comparable to what you would get in ONE commercial coffeehouse coffee (if they fill it up to the very top of the paper cup - ever notice that?). Anyhoo, this coffeemaker is perfect for someone like me who likes to fill up a travel mug in the morning and leave for work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Value For A Couple Mugs Of Java, October 12, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Maxi-Matic EHC-2022 4 Cup Pause 'N Serve Coffee Maker
This was the perfect solution for myself in many respects. The cost was very reasonable, the size is small and takes up very little counterspace in height and width, it's very easy to operate, very easy to clean, you can see the current water level in the tank, it comes with a filter however, a paper filter allows less ground sediments, it's easy to pour, it makes two mugs of coffee (as opposed to 4 very small cups) which is all I need. Came with a measuring spoon. The only complaint I read about was that water temp could be higher. For me, I usually have to put ice in coffee to cool..this is hot but sippable...perfect in my book. No more blistered roof of mouth! Doesn't compromising flavor. Burner has auto shutoff as I recall. Saves money by avoiding expense of wasted java. Killer product as far as I'm concerned...had good retailer as well...1 shop stop.

4.0 out of 5 stars Makes good coffee, filter holder moves around, March 30, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Maxi-Matic EHC-2022 4 Cup Pause 'N Serve Coffee Maker
The Elite Cuisine 4-Cup Pause-'n-Serve Coffeemaker makes very good coffee - comparable to our Cuisinart coffee maker, which is quite good.

The filter holder doesn't seem to stay put after you put coffee in it and swing it closed; the top of the coffee pot seems to snag on it - need to hold the filter holder shut while removing the pot.

Otherwise a nice product; quite small, but big enough to make two cups (all coffee makers have too small a cup serving).

I'd buy it again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time on this!, October 10, 2010
This review is from: Maxi-Matic EHC-2022 4 Cup Pause 'N Serve Coffee Maker
I bought this coffee pot based on the reviews here. Thought it would be just what I needed (small size, built in filter, sleek looking). I've owned it now for 6 months and boy, what a disappointment. There are 3 main issues I have with it. First is the filter itself. This filter is so thin that it doesn't allow for any brewing of the grounds. The water just goes straight through the filter, making the weakest pot of coffee I've ever seen. In order to get adequate strength, I have to either double the amount of coffee grounds (that gets expensive) or place a disposable filter in to help slow down the brewing. Secondly, the coffee maker is very light weight, so I have to hold it with one hand, to either turn it off or on with the other hand, otherwise it begins to slide across the counter. I also have to hold the maker with one hand just to get the pot out a lot of times, so that the maker doesn't scoot on me. Lastly, the pot itself pours poorly! I have had many a guest miss their cup and spill b/c it just doesn't pour easily. If I were you, I would look into other coffee makers, and not buy this one.
