Don't buy this hot plate,

This review is from: Maxi-Matic ESB-300X Elite Cuisine 750-Watt Single-Burner Electric Hot Plate, Black (Kitchen)
Damn, this is the first time I've gone back to a purchase twice. This hot plate is the worst thing I've ever bought in my life. Do you know how stupid you look when you are making grilled cheese sandwiches to share with a friend and when you turn the sandwich the heat goes off? I can't afford another one so I will struggle with this but PLEASE DON'T ANYONE ELSE BUY THIS POOR PRODUCT. At least I've learned to keep my hand on the handle of anything I set on it so it doesn't tip off! Amazon you should be ashamed to sell something as bad as this. Elite you should be ashamed to make a product as crappy as this!

This hot plate has a safety "feature" & shuts itself off if it gets too hot.

NATURAL HOOKAH COALS,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Maxi-Matic Elite Cuisine Single Burner 750-Watt Hot Plate (Kitchen)
I bought one of these about three years ago to heat up my natural hookah coals that can not be lit with just a lighter. In that time the thing had been dropped, kicked around, and my roommate left it out in the rain, twice, and it still worked great.
I finally bought a new one even though I technically did not need to and it is still a great product. However, the only other thing I have ever used it for was heating up food like a pot of baked beans. I have never tried to boil water or fry an egg in a pan so I do not know well it works for things like that. Otherwise, a great product.

Doesn't get very hot, but you won't burn the place down. Does not come with the black bowl pictured.

Hookah Stove,

I bought this stove to light my natural hookah coals on and it works absolutely great! I'm not sure how it works for actual stove top cooking purposes since I have not used it for that, though it lights the coals perfect so I assume that it would be able to cook food!

I was going to make an adapter to convert my Brinkman Smoker to allow cold smoking. Neither charcoal or the 1500 electrical adapter allowed it to be cool enough. I made a smoke box along with four inch aluminum ducting and mounted the Maxi-Matic 750 Watt Hot Plate in the smoke box. So element wouldn't cycle I by-passed it. Unfortunately I didn't keep my eye on it and the smoke box caught on fire and the whole thing was destroyed. I need a much lower wattage. "Back to the drawing board"

It has worked well for use in my smoker and I have not experienced any problems maintaining a constant temperature. There have been no thermostat issues as some have reported.

Bought this for at camp, our camp has a propane stove and hate having to turn it on outside and trying to light it sometimes is scary. This product works great and heats up quickly. The reason for the 4 stars is pots can easily slide off. Not sure if its the type of pots I am using but just be careful, havent had one fall off yet but it slides very easy especially if you are stirring something have to use 2 hands one to hold pot and one to do the stirring. I may take a pot from home next time I go to camp and see if it is the pots but my advice is just be careful.

This thing works GREAT for hookah coals. I used to light my coals on my gas stove and it would take 10-15 mins, plus i have lemon wood coals, so i have alot of very small pieces that i couldnt place on the stoves grid. This thing lights my coals in under 5 minutes and i dont have to sit in the kitchen waiting for them to be flipped. Amazing for charcoals, but i havent cooked with it yet.

I bought a Masterbuilt electric smoker that went bad after only two years. The people at Masterbuilt wouldn't sell me a replacement electric heater element that was the fault. Since I didn't want to trash the $350 stainless steel smoker for want of an inexpensive 800 watt element, I searched for a hot plate that produced approximately the same wattage on 115 volts. The Maxi-Matic ESB-300X's element was 750 watts and was a good electrical substitute for the original. Since the element's coiled configuration was quite different, I had to make some allowances for final physical fit but the smoker works again and I'm back in BBQ heaven. Of course, if anyone wants a slightly used hot plate minus it's element, it's free for the asking.
