Although many of the company records were lost or destroyed, through meticulous research the author has filled in the details of the rigs shown. Carefully selected photographs create a magnificent photographic history of Maxim's fire apparatus that will appeal to all fire apparatus enthusiasts. Beginning with the first three Maxim apparatus built in 1914, included photos show commercial chassis and conventional chassis, pumpers, aerials, brush trucks, rescues and tankers. Also included are some of the unusual and one-of-a-kind rigs.

About the Author
Howard T. Smith began collecting Maxim information back in 1994 while researching the history of his hometown fire department in Wareham, Massachusetts. Finding a lack of information on Maxim, he set out to collect as much information as he could in the hopes of publishing a book on this small, yet popular fire apparatus manufacturer.
Mr. Smith is a firefighter in Danvers, Massachusetts. He works part time at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy as a Fire Instructor and holds several college degrees including a Bachelors Degree in Fire Science Administration. When not with his family, Mr. Smith spends his spare time restoring his antique fire truck, a 1946 Maxim pumper (a former Wareham, Massachusetts truck.)

Great book. Having worked at Maxim Motors as a Draftsman, This brought back fond memmories.
The technical aspect is accurate. The historical data is correct, and the photos are authentic. If you are a fire truck buff you must read this book.
