5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutly Fantastic Toy, Great Value!
These Tumble Tree Timbers are wonderful! They are absolutly just as good as Lincoln Logs and work perfectly with any Lincoln Log set, except they cost a fraction of the price! I dont' know why anyone would even waste their money on Lincoln Logs, you get SO many more of these for a much less price. The ONLY difference is that the color of the wood on these is a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Price, Disappointing Log Distribution
My children received this item for Christmas last year. Compared to Lincoln logs, the price can't be beat. The major disappointment that I have is that, of the 300 pieces, 193 of the pieces are the small, single notch, logs. There are only 4 long, three notch, logs and 4 long roof slats. Total there are only 6 roof supports. I wouldn't mind this so much of there were...

I wouldn't mind this so much of there were add-on packs that allowed you to buy more of the pieces you need (i.e. roof packs or long logs); however the way it is, one must buy an entire additional set with again, a disproportionate number of small logs. I do like the quality of the item, just disappointed in the distribution of the pieces.

I dont' know why anyone would even waste their money on Lincoln Logs, you get SO many more of these for a much less price. The ONLY difference is that the color of the wood on these is a different shade of wood than the lincoln logs, so if you are mixing sets you should know there is a color difference. Other than that they are a magnificant toy, and a a great value. I wish I would have known about these before I wasted my money the first set we have of Lincoln Logs. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this toy!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Basic Toys are Better!, September 5, 2007

My grandchildren can spend hours building cabins and forts, little towns and farms and ranches with these building blocks. We bought 450 pieces a few years ago, but with three boys, 450 pieces wasn't enough so while they were staying with us for a week, we needed another set. Amazon had the blocks, and got them to us in two days. The boys covered one whole area of the living room with a marvelously constructed fort with multiple buildings, fences, towers, corrals and gates. No batteries, no plastic parts to break, no aggravating electronic noises. Just imagination, hand dexterity, and hours of fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably at least as good as the original, October 2, 2009

If there was a comparable original Lincoln Log set we probably would have bought that instead but this set seemed more open-ended for the following reasons:

1. MORE pieces for a total of 300
2. slats vs half-logs for roofing/fencing/walks/balconies/benches
3. no plastic fixed-size roofing
4. no marketing logos that imply orientation

From an educational standpoint there are some serious mental acrobatics required to build in windows and doorways, plan for roofing etc. The pieces are so light and easy to fit together that even the youngest, gentlest child is unlikely to get too frustrated. There are a few slat grooves that are a bit snug but it's not necessary to jam a slat all the way in for structural integrity.

Unlike other building sets, you can't really carry your creations with you. That's fine since what can be better than tearing down and trying something new?

Lastly, there's a warning about staining carpets but we haven't seen that yet and we try to keep toys and food separate.

I am sure this product is fine, but it is for a gift and it comes in plastic shipping bags...no container, tin, or box...that should be clearly stated in the ad...I can't give this as a gift...it would be fine if it was for my own children, but not as a gift! Unfortunately I will be returning this item.

My girls ages 2, 4 & 6 have got so much use out of these building logs! They are truly the same quality as Lincoln Logs at a much better price!
My older neices enjoy them too. I must say they are even fun for adults!

I think this is one of the best priced, excellent quality, most often used toys we own!

This is a classic toy and is a wonderful addition to a rtoom full of other toys and stuffed animals etc. My 5yr old loves to build with these and I love to join her in doing so as well. This is a timeless classic that you can't go wrong buying and having around the house...

I wanted to get Lincoln Logs for my son's birthday, but they're so over priced. This set is great! The logs are durable, and just as good, and best of all we could afford to get a bigger set, because the price is very reasonable.

This review is from: Maxim Tumbletree Timbers Building Set, 300-Pieces (Toy)
I bought this as a gift for a family with 3, 4, and 6 year-olds. The good news was that there were lots of parts,so everyone could play together with minimal fighting (except over the two chimneys!). Some of the logs were not cut accurately, and therefore didn't fit together as well as they might have. The biggest difference fromt he original Lincoln Log sets is in how the roof is designed. This kit uses special logs which have an extra notch in them designed to catch the bottom roof slat. It is a more complex and less stable design than the original kit that used plastic rook peaks and would hold the roof together with less futzing.

Regardless, the kids loved the kit, and a good time was had by all!

I bought this for my 3 year old grandson and he loves them. He uses them to build houses and has even tried building other things with them also. Pieces are good quality and work great with the lincoln logs.
