5.0 out of 5 stars Has Helped Me Already
I work in high tech and have had problems when I've been asked to present to senior management. I fall apart. Ellen Kaye's clear concise advice, especially Chapter 2 Conversations, has made me keenly aware of some bad habits. I have already changed a number of things that I do as a result of reading this book and my boss has commented on it.

This is a must read for...

1.0 out of 5 stars Misleading Titlte, Rambling Discussion of Ideas
If you're looking for a presentation skills book, this is the wrong book to buy. It deals mainly with Business Etiquette--how to make an entrance, how to shake hands, how to enter a room invisibly if you're late for a meeting, what to do on a bad hair day, etc.

If you're looking for a presentation skills book, this is the wrong book to buy. It deals mainly with Business Etiquette--how to make an entrance, how to shake hands, how to enter a room invisibly if you're late for a meeting, what to do on a bad hair day, etc.

You won't be shown how to plan your opening, organize your slides, deliver your ideas, or deal with difficult questions at the end of your presentation.

Then there are some other problems that made the author lose this reader's respect. For example, did you know that Lao Tzu--that seminal Chinese philosopher from around 500 BC--was a famous communication and image coach? (It's on p. 19.)

From the number of stars it has received from other reviewers, it is clear that several people found this book helpful. It must fulfill a certain need. However, I was looking for a presentation skills book (I provide training in Taiwan to help Chinese businesspeople present their ideas to Americans and Europeans. [...]

This book is full of inspirational ideas, motivational techniques, and straight-forward, practical ideas. Unlike other business books, it's funny, witty, sassy and clever and easy to implement. This is all the unwritten rules that we all wish we knew. I highly recommend it to anyone trying to get ahead in business.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource, easy-to-read and entertaining, April 26, 2008

This title says it like it is: "Maximize Your Presentation Skills: How to Speak, Look and Act on Your Way to the Top." Ms. Kaye's book is a solid resource for everyone presenting or communicating with anyone, anywhere, en route to the top of their career, whatever it may be. There are excellent suggestions and step-by-step instructions on how to develop more self-confidence, present a more polished business image, listen and speak with better results, among many other vital workplace topics.

In addition to reading her book, I was fortunate to see her in person at a workshop with a large and diverse group. Kaye addressed the audience's needs as a group, while her poise and presence allow her the freedom to go right into the audience and work with individuals in need of her expertise and wisdom. Kaye is full of energy, sincere and highly intuitive. When attending a presentation, it is clear Kaye's expertise, knowledge and charisma far exceed the covers of this book, as she flows between educating and enthusiastically entertaining the group while dealing successfully with the audience member's very specific challenges.

5.0 out of 5 stars Success!, January 7, 2008

I thought this book was fabulous. It was very visual and helped me think with ease before I present. I work in retail as a manager and have to speak to a lot of different people on a daily basis. I also have to attend meetings where I have to speak in front of 50-100 employees. This book helped put a different persepective on how to present and has helped me with my own prensentation skills. I feel much more confident presenting and I feel like I am getting my point across. I would recommend this book to everyone whether they have problems presenting or not. Why not perfect your presentation and nail it everytime? Great job Ellen Kaye. I cannot wait for this author to come out wih another fantastic book.
