4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, not bad at all.
* First off, let me say I am not an "audiophile", nor am I an MP3 junkie, so keep that in mind. This unit is used in my 1997 Ford Ranger STX with it's original so-so stereo:

* The first one that I ordered didn't work and returned it via Amazon's great return method. It is the best hands down for Amazon stocked (not third party) orders.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worked great, for a week....
I received the SAN-360 FM Transmitter & Charger as a gift for Christmas. It worked very well, for about a week and a half. I plugged it in this past week and found that it was not transmitting correctly. It sounded as if only the background parts of my music were coming through clearly. I keep my transmitter in my car, along with my cell phone charger. I live in New...

* The second unit was received quickly & works very good with a couple of comments. Thankfully it has a very wide frequency range because the lower frequencies have a great deal of interference in the Phoenix area. The single quiet "spot" near the higher end of the spectrum is MUCH better with almost no static. Almost. At higher volumes (think booming Rock 'n Roll) it's there alright, but not too bad. The other thing that I hadn't considered much prior to ordering is that the wire leading to the Sansa is a bit funky as it seems to be pretty much all over the place. In retrospect I wish this unit had a plug-in cradle built into it instead of the long wire. But the wire is probably better for the co-pilot to manage if you have one (I don't). The Sansa volume needs to be set to high & around 70-75% before pluging it into the transmitter. Once plugged in you can't change the Sansa volume and it will sound weak through the car/truck stereo if you have it too low before plugging in.

* Overall a good performer so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great transmitter for the Sansa!, January 16, 2007
This review is from: Maximo FM Transmitter and Car Charger for Sansa MP3 Players (Electronics)
I tried many transmitters when I first bought my Sansa e270 back in July of 2006, but unfortunately nothing had been made specifically for the Sansa at that point, so I was stuck using generics such as the Monster adaptors. I was not at all pleased with the results when using those transmitters as the signal was not strong enough for the tuner to capture without static.

At that point I decided to stick with tape adaptors for a while to fit my need and used that until other vendors began to manufacture products specifically for Sansa that would charge the player as well as allow the player to connect via line level out rather than the headphone output as this always results in advantageous audio results.

I was fortunate to receive this product for Christmas and honestly was at first a bit hesitant when I saw a name brand that I was not accustomed to. I was really expecting to receive something made by Griffin or Macally as they are more well known for their transmitters. As it was a gift it deserved an audition, which I did immediately. I was so impressed with the transmitter power that I immediately bought another transmitter for my wife to use for her Sansa e260. I receive crystal clear audio from the Sansa now and absolutely love this product. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars You gotta get this if you own a Sansa MP3 player!, February 6, 2007

This is the best accessory you can have to compliment your Sansa MP3 player. Just make sure you've downloaded the player's latest firmware and you're set to go. The infomation that came with the transmitter didn't seem to mention the firmware upgrade, but their website shows it in red letters with the appropriate links to get the task done in just a few minutes. The sound is strong and clear provided you find a spot on the FM dial with no interference. The three memory presets should be plenty even in towns with congested FM traffic. It's well worth the $60.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sound!, January 30, 2007

This review is from: Maximo FM Transmitter and Car Charger for Sansa MP3 Players (Electronics)
We tried the Griffin iTrip (which "crackeled" on every "s" sound) and the Dynex (which was more static than music 1/2 the time) to use with our Sansa 260e MP3 player. We even asked our local electronics store customer service desk how to pick the best one. They told us all fm transmitters had a static or crackeling sound and we had to just live with it.

That was not good enough for us, so we took a look at the SanDisk web site to see what they suggested to use with their product. We found this transmitter and purchased it here on Amazon. We were so happy with the clear sounds that came out! Even when the volume was up, it does not "crackel" or "hiss". There is very little static in the background on quiet songs when the car is off, but otherwise it's wonderful! We will recommend it to anyone!

This is the transmitter you want. I too have tried another generic fm transmitter with poor results. After much research on the web for something better, this one seemed to please the most users. Haven't been disappointed either, it's great, with nice clear transmission to my car radio. Haven't noticed any static at all. Just make sure you select a frequency with no stations close to it in its band. It has preset buttons just in case you run into interference on long trips. And on top of that, it charges my Sansa while it plays :)

The Maximo FM Transmitter does a fine job playing my MP3s over my car stereo. I have found that if I drape the cord with the player over the rearview mirror, the transmitter works nearly flawlessly. If I leave the cord of the transmitter coiled near the plug, I get lots of static and breakthroughs from other FM stations. Overall, I am happy with the purchase!

I live in New England so I'm not sure if the transmitter was affected by the cool winter temperatures or not. I'm sure this is not a common occurance, but I would advise anyone with the transmitter not to leave it in their car in extreme temperates (hot or cold). I have contacted Maximo about my problem - and hope to find out if it was a fluke, or if the cold temps killed my transmitter... I'll update later if/when I hear from them. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than most FM transmitters, May 12, 2007
By
This review is from: Maximo FM Transmitter and Car Charger for Sansa MP3 Players (Electronics)
I've used two different Belkin AAA transmitters, and they were horrible in my Ford Focus and Freestar. Lots of static and drifting in and out of stereo.

I've only used the Maximo in the Focus so far, but it's really nice. There are very few open stations in my area, so it's tough to find a clear frequency, but I managed to find 3 decent ones and lock them into the memories of the Maximo and my radio.

If you leave the cord coiled or wrapped up, the signal isn't as good, so I leave mine unwound.

If you have a Sansa player and will use it in the car primarily, then this transmitter does a fine job.

This item is outstanding. It is static free and easy to install. The wire could be just a little shorter so it doesn't look like a clutter near your cup holders.
