2.0 out of 5 stars Sound decent, then break
I got these off Woot for $18 -- nice price! They sounded reasonable and I used them for about 3 weeks before I realized the left earbud had gone completely dead. Not that surprising; I tend to be pretty rough on my headphones. But I figured I'd try an RMA and got one and they sent a replacement back; it only cost me $2 for the shipping. Figured I'd be gentler and get 3...

5.0 out of 5 stars Awsome earphones., April 30, 2007
This review is from: Maximo iM-490S iMetal Isolation Earphones for Sansa, iPod, and MP3 (Electronics)
I just purchased these earphones after reading about them on Sandisks website- I liked the fact that they were tuned specifically for Sandisk's mp3 players. I had previously purchased some Philips headphones because I wasn't all that impressed with the earphones that came standard with my Sansa e250 mp3 player but I found the Philips ones to be even worse than the included earphones so I upgraded to these ones by Maximo. I am now 100% happy with the sound quality from my Sansa 'lil monsta! These earphones totally block out external sound allowing you to focus totally on the music. They have SUPERB sound quality with strong bass which I really need being a bass player myself. The build quality seems excellent and this is supported by a LIFETIME warranty!

Overall I cannot recommend this product highly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Ever Earphones, June 27, 2007
This review is from: Maximo iM-490S iMetal Isolation Earphones for Sansa, iPod, and MP3 (Electronics)
When I received these headphones I was so impressed with the comfortable feeling inside the ears that these present. I was very impressed with the sound difference that it made to my MP3 Player- The sound just takes my breath away. I have never had headphones like these ever! They may be more than I would have paid for a set of earphones, but it was worth the whole price. Wow what a difference they make to my music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellect value!, April 30, 2007

This review is from: Maximo iM-490S iMetal Isolation Earphones for Sansa, iPod, and MP3 (Electronics)
The iM-490 headphones by Maximo Products are an excellent value! The sound is rich in the middle, crisp at the top and has clarity and punch at the bottom. When combined with the Sansa's Custom EQ capability, these headphones can handle anything from Little Walter to Emerson Lake & Palmer. I listen to everything from Brazilian electronica to Tom Waits, and the iM-490's sound very, very good. The physical styling and design quality matches the sound. The metal case is eye-catching and durable. I love the fact that the silicone inserts come in 3 sizes. I have a small ear opening, and these are a secure fit. The sound isolation feature is great too -- the silicone inserts block more external sound than conventional earbuds with foam pads, allowing more enjoyment and privacy at more moderate volume. Don't overlook the lifetime warranty, either -- a rare thing in today's world of throw-away electronics. I love mine and I intend to get a set as a gift for a fellow music lover soon.

Not that surprising; I tend to be pretty rough on my headphones. But I figured I'd try an RMA and got one and they sent a replacement back; it only cost me $2 for the shipping. Figured I'd be gentler and get 3 months or so out of them; so I use them one day traveling to/from work on the subway. Next time I go put them on, I realize the left channel is pretty faint, and I get a phone call so I take them off; I put them back on and the left channel is completely dead. Obviously a bit of a design flaw somewhere in there if they die that quickly.

I purchased these headphones for use while at work. I do not have a Sansa player but needed a good basic set of earphones for listening to iTunes and XM Radio online. I've been extremely impressed with the depth and breath of sound these little earphones produce. It's hard to believe earphones can sound this good, vastly better than the standard iPod earbuds. These earphones also fit comfortably for extended periods of time, which is another big plus.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, not perfect., February 16, 2008
This review is from: Maximo iM-490S iMetal Isolation Earphones for Sansa, iPod, and MP3 (Electronics)
I use these on my Ipod 20gb 4g, and my Sansa E260.
The first set that I received was flawed--the left earphone didn't transmit any sound. Maximo paid for shipping took a look at them, and decided to send me a new set. Great.

These headphones sound amazing. The in-ear design takes getting used to if you've never had a pair, but they really do block out a lot of noise, and I find myself turning DOWN the volume more often than up now. Even on the bus, I can hear my music perfectly well. The music sounds clear and crisp. Not tinny or anything. Rush, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, all sound beautifully on these. As far as sound quality goes, I give these headphones a 5/5.

However, as I mentioned before, there are some obvious quality control problems. My first pair was flawed, and now the second pair that they sent me, the right earphone comes apart too easily (it separates at the part of the headphones where it goes from chrome to matte silver).

That's my only complaint with this product. For the price, you can't beat these headphones, but be aware of possible QC issues.

I tried these after being hugely disappointed by the Sony EXlp51 earphones for around the same price. No disappointment with these and a lifetime warranty to boot.

trust me when i say this. i am a pro musician. these earbuds have a studio like sound. all the instruments and voices are more clear and crisp sounding and unlike other earbuds they allow you to hear echo like effects through them. all the delay gives you the impression like you are hearing it live. if you want earbuds you would be smart buying these.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy for the price, February 2, 2008

This review is from: Maximo iM-490S iMetal Isolation Earphones for Sansa, iPod, and MP3 (Electronics)
WOW!! Let me start off by saying that the standard earbuds that came with our sansa e200 series players had average sound and below average comfort. They can't seem too handle bass adequately and are EXTREMELY large. They are too PAINFULL to wear for more than 20-30 minutes at a time. We have purchased six sansas now in various forms(Rhapsody,250,260,280,etc.), and likewise have purchased many different styles and forms of headsets. We did not want to spring for the top of the line $100+ earbuds due to the bad experiences of friends and the poor build quality.
While browsing through the sansa accessories I came accross these earbuds. Believe me, I read every review- negative and positive- and all of the positive reviews were gushing and the negative ones were about the same flaw. I did like the fact that they are made for sansa.
Now the good part. They are roughly half the price of the "premium" earbuds. They ARE made specifically for sansas. They have a good build quality. There's the LIFETIME warranty. But best of all they sound FANTASTIC!!!!! The earbuds are extremely comfortable. They come with three different size buds to ensure the best fit and they block noise wonderfully. I now use the built in EQ on my sansa 280 and together with the 490s I am constantly using my player now in and out of the home. Did I mention that they come with a two foot extension cord and their own case?
If you're looking for the MOST bang for your buck- at around $40- you cannot go wrong with these earbuds. In fact, I'm wearing mine right now as I write this review. The 80's never sounded soooo good. A must-have for Sandisk Sansa E200 Series owners.

I highly recommend these earphones. The clarity is beautiful and the bass full and natural. I've compared these to others, including the Bose in the ear earphones, and the iM-490S easily comes out the winner for my Sansa e280. And at this price, really, it's a great find.
