2.0 out of 5 stars Skip this, buy the DVD, August 10, 2005
This review is from: Maximum Audioslave (Audio CD)
This is not worth your money. The disk is full of someone rambling about Audioslave, occaisionally getting dates wrong, and saying nothing particularly insightful. If you are thinking of buying this to get clips of the band, don't bother. There are 10 second "interviews" at the beginning of each track, many of which are ripped right off the DVD, and that's it.
This WOULD be a good tool for someone who was looking to learn about the history of the band, except it is far to expensive. Im sure you can find someone who will tell you the story for free. If you are looking to buy this because you are starving for more of the great band, buy the DVD, and if you already have that, then this has nothing new to offer you.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's like someone else doing your homework..., December 10, 2005
This review is from: Maximum Audioslave (Audio CD)
There will always be band fans who slam the maximum biography discs. "They" are right, in that, for hardcore longtime fans who have spent countless hours on the web, at the magazine rack, listening to the radio, and watching vh1 specials, the info. offered isn't exactly bursting with underground secrets read from the group's diaries. However for new fans or even old school fans of Rage there really is quite a bit of stuff to take away from it. FYI it's unauthorized, meaning the band itself wasn't involved in the production. Though there are short interview segments from the band at the beginning of ea. track, there is no AS music on here! Also this is not some unknown cd from the band with b-sides or remixes on it. This is really just a short book on cd, more like a college discourse from some serious fans. It starts and ends with vivid word imagery describing the band and their music (which is a bit corny). The 40 min. or so in between is snippets from articles, interviews, bio's, facts, history, reactions, interactions, etc. all on the band. There's not much Soundgarden background but lots of rage background (afterall AS is 75% Rage). I also like that it didn't interview fans like some low budget bio dvds/cds/books do.
In conclusion:
Rabid fans who must know and have everything AS/Rage = A Must Buy,
New fans to AS and/or Rage = A Must Listen,
Fans who have all the cds, a dvd, maybe even a concert ticket or tattoo = It's worth checking out
For the Know-It-All (legitimate or self proclaimed) Fans = Pass on it.
