Editorial Reviews

"In this concise text, the author presents an excellent introduction to theory and inference in ecology in general, a brief, but thorough, review of macroecology, and a detailed description of the application of maximum entropy theory to questions in macroecology. Maximum Entropy and Ecology would work well as a textbook for a graduate course in theoretical ecology and macroecology, with an emphasis on application of maximum entropy." -- The Quarterly Review of Biology

I thought this would be something like thermodynamics... But it turns out, it is about information theory, with an application of the methods used in statistical thermodynamics. It's still a very good book though, and I met the author too and he is a very intelligent and sensible man. It does make me wish I understood math better.
