This book is one of the best marketing books I have ever read.

Kim Gordon writes in a clear and easy to understand style. Instead of inundating the reader with lots of abstract, academic business theory, she instead relates practical, real world marketing information that she herself has already tried and tested. For a relatively slim volume (222 pages including index), this book covers a lot of ground --- including writing great sales letters, relationship marketing, and creating press kits. I can't recommend it highly enough --- especially considering the book's low cost.

Small business owners have to continually make decisions about things outside our core areas of expertise. If marketing is a little outside your comfort zone, you'll undoubtedly find this book as useful and practical a guide as I have. Gordon gives you a concise and understandable overview of the full range of contemporary marketing avenues -- what they can do for you, when they're appropriate, what's involved in making them effective, and more -- integrating plenty of best-practices tips and illustrative case histories in each section. It's news you can really use. I especially found the last part of the book helpful which walks you through the necessary steps to put together a cohesive marketing program that fits your market and your budget.

For many of us, what starts out as a great idea for a product or service ultimately turns into a marketing and sales challenge. When it comes to books on marketing, Maximum Marketing, Minimum Dollars is one of the best. First, it contains incredibly practical advice that can be put to use right away. This includes strategies that can be applied by every business, small or large, and irrespective of its product or service. Second, the book is written in an approachable manner, one that clearly and concisely conveys a large amount of information. If you're looking for a practical guide to marketing that will help you to make the most out of your marketing dollars, then this book is highly recommended.

I love this book. I checked it out at the library, but wanted to highlight so many things, I bought it. I keep it close at hand as a great resource for marketing my company. Kim Gordon is a competent, qualified writer, and I plan on reading more of her books!

Overall, I was disappointed with the content presented in the book and here's why: the description of this book said "leads readers step-by-step through 50 innovative, affordable tactics to generate sales."

To me, this book provided a nice overview of each of these tactics, but did not explain how to use each of them step-by-step. I know what email marketing and direct mail are ... how do I actually apply these tactics to my business though? This is what I what looking for out of the book, and it didn't deliver.

The content seemed a bit outdated to me as well. For example, the email marketing section talked about Overture, which hasn't been in the picture for years.

Granted, if you have no background in marketing, then this book provides a nice overview of "Marketing 101" tactics. But to someone who already has a solid understanding of basic marketing principles, and is looking for advice on applying different marketing tactics, I would say look elsewhere.

Kim Gordon has outdone herself with this newest book from a seasoned marketing specialist. Ms. Gordon's book offers successful strategies to maximize small business marketing dollars, offered in a friendly and informal manner with great examples of businesses using the strategies. As a small business owner, I find Kim Gordon's insightful marketing strategies easy to understand and implement; making it much more likely that I will use the ideas rather than simply read about them. Buy Maximum Marketing, Minimum Dollars if your goal is to increase your business and your income.

I work in sales at an agency in FL. I liked this book alot it gives you a bunch of great ideas. I got distracted almost everytime I picked it up because there were so many ideas that would pop into my head while I read the book. There is a public relations part that I couldn't really find a way to apply to my situation but that doesn't mean it won't help you. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in marketing and is interested in increasing sales. I am not in a position to implement any of these changes but I have discussed ideas with my bosses and they seemed pretty receptive. It never hurts to have ideas that could help your company make money even if it's not "your" company.

Hi there,

To whom it may concern; I have been an "Amazon-Fan" for a decade now and love to order product instead of shopping in stores. I really like the "reviews" and use them always in making a purchase decision.

This book got good reviews so I ordered it and like it.

Now as far as the reviews are concerned; I do read them with a grain of salt in other words able to read between the lines of people just pissed off and those who love the product I am considering.

I kind of do it in a scientific approach; eliminating all the "emotional-comments" as best I can.

So far this has worked well for me because we live in San Diego and the price of gas is now 4 Thirty Nine and I hate "Shopping-Centers" and everything about them.

Take care,

Tom
