Zantac is a Good Place to Start in Treating Heartburn,
By
This review is from: Maximum Strength Zantac 150 Acid Reducer, 65-Count Bottle (Health and Beauty)
Zantac is low-cost, over-the-counter medication that consumers can buy without a prescription. It is used to treat persistent heartburn and stomach ulcers. Zantac works by decreasing the secretions of stomach acids. When too much stomach acid is produced, some can "leak" out in a retrograde fashion and move into the esophagus, where it can burn the lining of the esphagus and cause the sensation of heartburn. Zantac is also used to treat stomach and esophageal ulcers.
Zantac is as equally effective as Tagamet, another anti-acid medication in the same class as Zantac. Zantac is not as potent as Prilosec or Prevacid, both very srong stomach acid inhibitors. For those with occasional bothersome mild heartburn, Zantac is a good place to start in terms of treatment. It is relatively cheap, and it is effective in controlling mild cases of heartburn. However, in more persistant and serious cases, one may consider taking the more potent (and more costly) Prilosec or Prevacid. The latter two medications generally work in cases where Zantac and Tagamet will not. Zantac is taken about 30 minutes to an hour before eating foods that commonly cause heartburn. The lead time is essential to decreasing stomach acid output before ingesting food. Zantac can be taken up to twice per day. Zantac is a good place to start treatment of heartburn. If it does not do the job for you, consider moving on to Prilosec and/or Prevacid. Jim "Konedog" Koenig, Dentist

Zantac 150 Acid Reducer, Maximum Strength,

Zantac if easy to use and pretty effective. It's best to take the tablet thirty minutes before meal time. Too much fat in the meal or too much spice can still cause heart burn. One tablet twice a day works best for me.

This review is from: Zantac Maximum Strength 150mg - Twin Pack (90 Tablets) (Health and Beauty)
I was going to write a review about this product months ago, but didn't get to it. I purchased this twin pack at the end of last April (2010) for $24.55. It didn't occur to me to check the expiration date, but I did, and it was dated to expire a little later that month-in three days! I contacted Zantac and asked them if it was ok to continue taking the product after the expiration date and they advised me that it was better that I didn't. I then contacted the seller (MonsterHotDeals) and he seemed unaware of the issue. He seemed sincere, I guess, and offered to refund my money. Needless to say I lost the address, contacted him again for the address to return the product, no reply. You have to ask yourself why is this seller selling 90 tablets of this product for an inexpensive $25 at 0.21 cents/tablet when compared to Zantac's price point at 50 tablets for $18 at 0.36 cents/tablet? I also discovered another review on here of Zantac themselves pricing their product so cheap because it too was soon to expire. Here's the heading "Maximum Strength Zantac 150 Acid Reducer, 65-Count Bottle." Check the expiration date people, especially when the product deals with issues as delicate as matters within the body.

The best if you're like me. I enjoy food and lots of it. Ocassionally I need to wash my food down with a couple of these or else I'm up all night in discomfort. These were prescribed to me along with Aciphex for my heartburn. I only take them when I really need them though, but they definately work the best and I've trid them all. The cool mint ones are good too, but really no difference, it's not like you suck on them or anything. Once they go down, they're down and that's it.

I fogot to take my prolosec on a trip to Canada. i went to drug store there, but they don't sell prilosec in Canada, so I bought Zantac 150 instead. This works and works fast, but only for about 2 hours. And I didn't want to take another pill just after 2 hours, so I would drink milk and non acitic stuff the entire trip and took Zantac every 6 hours or so.
