This is an excellent stethoscope, and not just for the price. I am able to auscultate lung sounds and blood pressures in a moving ambulance. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone.

I use this scope as a "backup" to my Ultrascope. I work in EMS and sometimes you just can't keep the first one from getting yuchy ! This scope is awesome, and exceptional for the price. It has outperformed my LITT (other brand) by far, and I have even landed a Helicopter on scene while using this scope.Amazingly enough, I could still hear lung sounds. I no longer own my LITT ( other brand). sold it on Ebay. These scopes ROCK ! I would never go back.

Looks Like Fisher Price, But It's a Serious Scope!,

I've heard rave reviews about Ultrascope, but they are out of my price range to buy right now (I guess I bought too many other stethoscopes!). But I heard that Maxiscope was made by Ultrascope and was a bit cheaper. A local uniform shop had one in bright red (evidently a favorite with the local Red Cross nurses, or so I was told), so I picked one up. Now, this scope doesn't look as serious as, say, a Littmann or any of the others. It really looks 'non-medical' if that's possible. But it works VERY well!
The scope is ~ 6oz., so its very light weight around your neck. It is pressure sensitive, and on the Ultrascope website they teach you how to use it (though in practice, its much like the Littmann pressure-sensitive diaphragms). The head and diaphragm are a little bigger than what I'm used to using, but taking blood pressures isn't tough with it at all (maybe it would be a problem on kids or the emaciated, but I have not experienced that scenario yet). The ear tips are PVC, and they fit in my ears quite well. I can hear well all over the precordium, as well as auscultate lung sounds easily too. I have to say - for looking like a toy and being so reasonably priced, I am impressed with this scope. And frankly, it's fun! The head is a shatterproof plastic, and the scope came with extra ear tips and a lifetime warranty which is great. I do NOT know how this compares to an original Ultrascope, but the Maxiscope stands up by itself as far as I'm concerned. ***Added on 4-24-2010*** I just used the Maxiscope during a school practicum where we had to auscultate and do vitals on a dummy. The Maxiscope performed flawlessly! I was able to discern what I had to discern with no trouble, even through the dummy's gown. I was able to hear the crackles in the dummy's right lung, plus obtain an accurate B/P, where others did not. I realize that it wasn't a real-world situation, but I wanted to share that! If I could bump this score up to five stars, I would. 2115|R1KQ1EPWQRG1AY;2115|R2REGLOA5ULPH6;2115|R2TU0KA68XRXTC;
