I purchased the Maxpedition Sitka S-Type to use as an Every Day Carry (EDC) bag. I was torn between the Sitka and the Kodiak (Kodiac is reported to be the same bag, just bigger)as I'm approx. 6'1'' 255lbs and thought the smaller bag might look weird across my back. I'm glad I chose the Sitka. The bag holds it all with room to spare. I usually carry my iPad, Kindle, first aid kit, vitamins, flashlight, various electronics/chargers, water, food, and sometimes my CCW Weapon. The back of the pack and shoulder strap are very well padded and feel comfortable even when loaded up. You do need to be cautious about overloading the bag, since all the weight is on one shoulder, carrying too much can cause back strain and fatigue. One of the best things about this bag is its ability to swing around to your chest for easy access to the pockets/pouches. You can even use the bag as a working surface for writing/swapping batteries or memory cards/ect...One of the features that is often overlooked is the security strap for your zipper tabs. This is a great feature. When all of the zipper tabs are moved to the top of the bag(when its on your chest) there is a loop that you can run the zipper tabs through and tighten. Its not really lockable, but I imagine I would feel/hear if someone were trying to undo it in an effort to remove something from the pack while I was wearing it. The only negative I have for this bag would be that the pack seems to rest on my lower back, which means the key holder/stability strap buckle on the shoulder strap is too far up on my shoulder to really use. If I want to use the stability strap or key holder I have to really tighten down the strap and that makes it a bit more uncomfortable. That could just be b/c of my body shape though. Overall I'm very pleased with the Sitka and use it everyday.

I had never heard of Maxpedition until I started looking for BOBs and EDC bags. When it arrived I was extremely impressed with the craftsmanship that went into this bag. It is certainly high quality, and one should expect that at the price point for this bag. Being in the service, predicted material endurance is one thing that I look for in equipment of this type. This bag is pretty big, I don't know that I would want to wear it every day, or even have enough stuff to use it as an EDC bag. If I had a concealed carry license, this might be a better fit for me. For my use, it would be better for a day at the zoo or hiking maybe. I bought the S-type, being a lefty, but found that I would prefer to have the bag strapped over my left shoulder instead of the right. Just something to think about before you purchase. There are many good video reviews of this bag on Youtube; make sure you check them out if you are unfamiliar with the Gearslinger line.

I use this when biking or flying to carry anything I might want to have on me. I carry it to work everyday with books and lunch in it. I wouldn't use it for hiking as it is a little small for that. Plenty of places to tuck things in to in order to stay organized.

Picked this up to try as another EDC option. So far it's been working out great. I picked up the S-type even though I'm right handed, the reason being is that I need a bag that will not interfere while I'm carrying with my IWB holster, and this bag is perfect. I wanted something smaller than my Kodiak yet larger than the Malaga and again the Sitka is just right. I can carry all of my EDC gear along with my Ipad and lunch and I still have some room left over.

Shipping was fast and it was packaged well.

For a 15-minute walk to the office, this is perfect. I bought this pack to replace a Swissgear Wenger I had for 7 years. I no longer needed to haul a laptop to work so I just needed something smaller for the basics:
-Sack Lunch, empty water canteen on top (Main Pouch)
-Travel Mug (Side Pouch)
-Journal (1/2" Avery Mini-Binder fits in the CC pouch)
-Book for the train (Front Pouch, needs to be a small one though)
-Misc (Knife, Toiletries, Vitamins, all in the Top Pouch)
...and the pack is full

Pros:
-The size makes it alot easier to maneuver the crowds than a full-sized pack.

-Very Durable. Had it out in a rainstorm and the pack stayed drier than me.

-I use the "Sling" ability more than I thought I would. I get alot of compliments on the pack because of this.

-Small enough to keep on my knee for the train ride so I don't have to put it on the dirty floor.

Cons:
-The color is not as shown. It's more of an olive than Khaki and the straps are a little more drab than foliage. I still like the colors, but this is my first Maxpedition purchase so I was expecting Khaki to be Khaki.

-In winter weather, the bulkiness of my coat makes the pack slip down lower on my back, but not to the point where it's uncomfortable. Unless I'm running and not holding on to the chest strap, it stays right where it should.

-One thing I had to get used to, is that on an average day I will be putting on or taking off the pack 9 times (House-->Car-->Train-->Work-->Train-->Car-->Home); so you'll have to get used to carrying different ways other than across your back. Since it's an S-type and I'm right-handed, i can slip it over my right shoulder without it being too awkward.
