This is a good knife. Not great just good. I got it primarily because I have a bag by maxpedition that I absolutely love and I thought the knife would be just as high quality, and its very good but its lacking some key attributes. The design is ugly, its too big for a edc knife in my opinion, and the blade doesn't hold an edge the way I would like. I wound up going with a Kershaw blade and I love them!

I acquired on of these from another source and liked it so much I bought this one here. Product arrived on time, well packaged, and without damage. It ships in its original box for those of you who may find that important. The bade was very sharp. The opening mechanism on this one was a bit stiffer than the original, but with use it has worked itself free and opens with a flick of the thumb stud and wrist. Its almost smooth as silk quick assisted opening is a nice feature for those of you who desire that type of product. There is no side to side movement in either of my blades and the locking mechanism holds the blade open firmly. No, it is not as nice as a knife that may cost ten times as much money, but for its price it is in my opinion a very nice knife that opens, locks, and closes surprisingly easy and consistently.

I own about a dozen Maxpedition products and this one does not stack up to the quality I've come to expect. Blade centering is awful and can't be fixed (no - I'm not new at this). The blade is loosely made and the tip is not very well done either. I actually bought the FEROX as a test purchase before buying the EXCELSA. Not even going there now. I left them a message but haven't heard back from them yet, and I'm starting to think I'm not going to hear from them at all. I am such a huge fan of Maxpedition and this is very disappointing.

If I have one thing nice to say about the knife, its that it is beautiful. I absolutely love the look, just wish the product was somewhere near the quality I'm used to seeing with Maxpedition. Bummer...

I bought this knife as an inexpensive spare to keep in one of my packs. In that role, its a great knife. It came hair shaving sharp out of the box. I usually touch up the blades on all my knives but this one didn't need it. How it keeps an edge remains to be seen. The fit, finish & workmanship was flawless and it locks up tight, much better than what I expected for a knife in this price range. It's light but feels rugged. I carry a Spyderco police model as my edc knife and use a ZT0350 when I hunt, but this knife appears to more than adequate as a spare. Great for a manbag knife too. I like it a lot, recommended.

This knife has blown me away. My dad found this knife while looking through Blade magazine and told me to check it out because it was an up and coming brand. I decided to give it a shot after reading some of the reviews. I didn't have super high expectations for a mid-$20's folder, but the Ferox blew my mind. It flips out so smoothly and shuts without a sound. It was delivered very sharp too! Absolutely no complaints. Would definitely recommend.

I've been looking at this knife for a while now and waiting for the reviews to start rolling in. As long as this isn't your go-to tactical folder, I think you'll be pleased with this handy little guy. Maxpedition has put together a solid utility folder
in this offering, with a nice blade length and decent balance in the hand and when in use. I use it daily for the miscellaneous odd jobs around the yard and in the field, and I haven't been disappointed yet. The finger groove directly below the blade could be a bit deeper, as I have had some very minor slippage when applying higher levels of force to the knife. I've carried a 5.11 little big knife for a while and have really taken to the deep groove design since then. Overall, however, I love this knife and would recommend you skip the straight edge and go for the serrated where this blade shines as a general utility piece.

I bought this as an inexpensive knife for my car's first aid kit knowing I wouldn't be be getting a Spyderco or Benchmade out of it, but what I found while playing with it for a few days surprised me on some points, and was what I expected in others.

First, I know this is a $30 knife but, Maxpedition c'mon at least stamp what steel it is on the blade. When I tested the edge it was lacking enough that i spent 20 minutes with my stones to get it to a decent spot. In its defense the serrations really were easy to sharpen.

Second in its favor the lockup is smooth and the included bushings are BRASS. Not flimsy teflon washers. This is a huge point in the knifes favor since the knife should stay nice and wobble free and able to be properly cleaned and oiled.

The handle is thin for its shape which is great for small hands but makes it somewhat slippery for bigger paws like mine. The handle has a texture molded into it but don't expect G10 scale grab or even stippling levels of grip. With a wet hand the handle will slide right out of your hand. It's got a steep enough guard on it that your hand shouldn't slide over the blade, but some grip tape was added to avoid this possibility.

The clip is nice and stiff and holds well, but it's not ambidextrous. The included hole for a lanyard is x-box huge and should work great but I've not used it yet.

I've seen some people playing off Maxpedition's name and trying to hork this thing at customers for $70-100 bucks, don't do it. Just don't. Do a 360 and moonwalk away from them.
