5.0 out of 5 stars Max's Easter...
This book was really cute. My kids love all the Max and Ruby books, and this one was no disappointment! The pictures are wonderful and brightly colored almost like an easter egg itself! And the unique eggs Max created in the book sparked my kids' imaginations with new inventions for their own easter eggs and decorations! :)

2.0 out of 5 stars The REAL max and ruby
Max and Ruby review by Dave Camwell
[...]

Premise: Two young rabbits have a themed adventure each week, apparently uncared for by their parents, with the only exception being an occasional visit by their Grandma. I often wondered if they were wards of the state, but there was one episode where a picture of Max, Ruby, and their parents was on the wall...

5.0 out of 5 stars Max & Ruby Board Book - Delightful!, April 21, 2010

I ordered Max's Easter Surprise (Max & Ruby) on Amazon for my granddaughter. She is two years old and enjoys this book. I would highly recommend all the Max & Ruby books. The books are fun and educational. Max is the little brother bunny and Ruby is the big sister bunny. There are funny mishaps, but the books always have a happy ending! The books teach good manners and how to interact with other children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute book, May 12, 2010
This review is from: Max's Easter Surprise (Max and Ruby) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a cute book, that i assume is a story based on an episode of Max and Ruby on Nick Jr. It is a quick and easy read, and isn't annoying, so it can be read over and over without loosing my mind. My daughter is almost 3, and the Easter Bunny brought her this book in her Easter basket. She loves the show, and asks to have this book read to her almost daily, even though Easter is a distant memory. Would recommend for young children who enjoy the tv program.

Max and Ruby review by Dave Camwell
[...]

Premise: Two young rabbits have a themed adventure each week, apparently uncared for by their parents, with the only exception being an occasional visit by their Grandma. I often wondered if they were wards of the state, but there was one episode where a picture of Max, Ruby, and their parents was on the wall! So, either this show is filmed when both bunny parents are working at the slipper factory, or the parents have been carried away by a hungry dingo.

Annoyance level (1-10): I give this show a 6 because it does a good job of reinforcing the stereotype that men don't say much, and women chatter incessantly. While Ruby and her gang of unfashionable lady bunnies talk non-stop about balloons, jump rope, and the latest film in the Scream franchise, Max rarely says more than one word again and again. Comic foil Roger is no better, only muttering "uh-huh" at even the most pointed of questions.

Ruby: Max, don't you think it's terrible that our low ratings mean we may go off the air?
Max: Chocolate cake!
Roger: Uh-huh...

Educational content: The only educational content is showing my impressionable sons that if you are stubborn enough and repeat what you want in short word bursts, the universe will eventually grant you your wish.

Questionable content that makes me wonder: Not to harp on this too much, but where is the rest of Max and Ruby's family? It's like they all went to the zoo one terrible day, and due to an escaped crocodile incident, only Max, Ruby, and Grandma survived to tell the tale...

If I were a script writer: I would write an episode where Max wants something predictably selfish and ridiculous, Ruby says "No, Max", and actually gets her way.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Won't Fall Asleep!, April 18, 2011
This review is from: Max's Easter Surprise (Max and Ruby) (Mass Market Paperback)
Let's face it, by the time you're putting your kids to bed and reading to them, you're EXHAUSTED. And some of the picture books that are out there can put you fast to sleep mid-sentence. But not Max and Ruby! They are charming, spunky, fun bunnies who will make you want to do voices when you're reading. My daughters loved all the Max and Ruby books. They're too old to be read to now, so I have to practice my Max and Ruby voices on my sweet little nieces!

I had this book delivered to my 3 grandchildren's house, ages 7, 6, and 21/2. My daughter-in-law told me it is one book that the 2 1/2 yr old continually brings my daughter-in-law to read to her.

I bought this book for my 2 1/2 yr old son's Easter basket and am STILL reading it! He loves Max and Ruby, so it's no surprise that he loves this book. The story is about how Ruby and her friend color Easter eggs, and Max is to put them in a basket. However, instead of putting them in a basket, he makes a parade with them and his toys. Very cute and great illustrations by Rosemary Wells. I love the simplicity of Max & Ruby!

This is only the 2nd Max & Ruby book that I have bought for my 2 year old. He loved the first and of course loved the second just as much! Great pictures and a fun read aloud story.
