The options this browser provides trumps default browser by far. Add ons provide more customization, most notably gestures. Overall, maxthon loads much faster than default, is more stable, and highly appealing. App is a must have for those who want a faster, cleaner, and more personalized experience. Excellent job on developer's part.

This FREE app solves one of my few complaints with the Kindle Fire. I had never heard of the Maxthon browser and was happily surprised to find some other browser offered by the restrictive Amazon app store for kindle. There are some minor issues with the operation of the Maxthon browser, but the speed vs the stock silk browser deserves a 5 star rating.

April 1, 2012: Update to my prior review below re. problem with playing mobile YouTube. The Maxthon browser has undergone a couple of iterations since I first installed it on my Kindle Fire January. Conclusions as of now:
- The first Android version I installed worked the best. Was as good or better than the Silk browser in every way;
- The next update (late Feb/early March) or the Maxthon "for the Kindle Fire" would not play a video off the mobile YouTube site. Instead it would close out mobile Youtube whenever you tried to play a video.
- The latest update made available yesterday I think is an improvement & is still a faster browser than Silk. However there are still 2 areas where Silk is better:
1)Mobile Youtube: Maxthon will now play mobile Youtube videos full screen on the Kindle Fire built-in flash player but they are of poor, pixelated quality while Silk will play them beautifully full screen on one-click using the built in the flash player;
2) Maxthon will display some but not all mobile versions of websites. Even when you enter the mobile URL it will revert to the "desktop" version of the website. Examples: CNBC mobile, MSNBC mobile
- Bottom line: The best Maxthon for Kindle unfortunately was the original Android version. Use Maxthon for most web browsing on the Kindle Fire, but rely on Silk for it's far superior playing of mobile Youtube videos, & if desired some mobile versions of websites.

"After being dissatisfied with the speed of the Silk browser for my Kindle Fire, the Maxthon browser had the features I was looking for, faster, more reliable, & better interface for keeping track of Favorites, etc. However, after it was updated in March, it will no longer play videos from the mobile version of YouTube. Everytime I go to play a YouTube video, it closes out the YouTube site. This is unacceptable to me & if its not fixed soon, I will be uninstalling."
