I bought this portable mag-stripe card reader to scan member cards at events for the nonprofit organization where I volunteer. (We create the member cards on card writer and special card printer.)
There were several problems with the shipment when it arrived. Items were in a loose jumble, a special USB cable that was supposed to be included was missing, and I received two card readers instead of one. I immediately contacted the seller to tell them about the extra reader and also requested that they ship the missing USB cable.
When the USB cable arrived I discovered that both readers exhibited the same poor performance. In 3 out of 10 careful scans, card data was either missing or garbled. This happened repeatedly with a test card (included with the reader) and also a sample of the member card for which the reader was purchased. The types of errors were identical with both cards.
The seller kindly offered to send new firmware, but by that time I had lost confidence that the problem could be adequately corrected. I declined the firmware offer, and requested a refund. Although the product was grossly defective, the seller representative was always prompt, courteous, and communicative. I received my refund about about 10 days after I returned the item.
P.S. If you read the fine print on the seller's info page they say "We trade negative or neutral feedback as the end of the willing for any further assistant."
